C6 Automatic shift knob
 

Got into my car last evening... went to put the car into gear and two pieces of plastic came off the shifter knob... the silver piece on the top and the plastic piece that you depress to move the shifter.

I seemed to have snapped it back together and then called the dealer as it is on warranty.

My question.... has this happened to anyone else here?

It's pathetic that a car that cost this much can fall apart from simple use

The silver plastic piece that you depress to get in to gear broke on mine a few months ago. Had to install a new shifter. 07 Z51 A6.

Find a GM parts wholesaler if you drive your car daily and plan to keep your car beyond the warranty period. Have a second car for the times that the part you need takes a week to get to you cuz no friggen dealer within 2hrs has the part, bolt or gasket. /thread

It is amazing the little things that happen to these cars.I had the accelerator pedal come off of mine and putting it back on would make the pope cuss. Very tricky.
