1000 hp, Mid-engine C2 going to Barret-Jackson
Read (and see!) it here:1000 hp Twin-Turbo Stingray Headed to Barrett-Jackson
Yeah it's a custom, but my goodness what a custom it is. I would've never expected myself to be okay with stretching the body of the Stingray, but in this case... I'll make an exception. We'll see how it does on the block at Barret-Jackson. Did I mention that it's mid-engined? How cool is that? |
ungainly looking... out of proportion as i see it... to me, it would look better if the rear window stayed where it was and the roof line was extended.

Looks like the next Batmobile.

Interesting. I wonder how many hours of fab work went into this?
I'll totally forget to watch the auction in April, hopefully someone will follow up with the sale price of this machine. I'm assuming that it is a no reserve auction? |
That thing is butt ugly!
|
I wouldn't predict a long and happy life for the rear windows with the turbos two inches from the glass. :ack:
|
Duntov DID build a Corvette to win Le Mans overall. It was called the Grand Sport, and the effort was killed by the GM racing ban.

You should NEVER mess with a C2 body lines. Period!
|
Well......??? From the front and the back it's not too bad looking, BUT the side view is hideous!:ack:
And like John says the heat from those turbos would cook everything around them. Somebody spent a lot of $$$$ to produce a really ugly car.:lolg: I liked this GM concept mid engine from the late 60's.... http://files.conceptcarz.com/img/Che...-10-GHM_02.jpg |
OMFG , that's not a c2 , It's fugly.
|
Wow, a Midyear with EDEMA! I think the back window area is wire mesh, not glass.

That thing has been to an auction in the last year or so. I remember it from TV. Maybe it was a no sale and trying again in April. BJ allows some reserve cars at their West Palm Auction.

Back in 1973 in Hot Rod Magazine was a '72 Corvette mid engine a guy build around '72 or '73, using an Oldsmobile Toronado transaxle. While it was stretched a little behind the seats and in the rear deck, he shortened the front fenders slightly. Off some, but a lot better proportioning than this one.
And still looked like a Corvette. Not crazy about this one at all. |
Looks more like a Karmann-Ghia.:yesnod:
|
I'll take the motor. Everything else is hideous. What's the story with the nose? It has an underbite.
*edit* If anyone cares, here's a cool article about mid-engined Corvettes... |
I looked at the photos, and thought to myself "that is ugly"
Then after reading the comments from all you other guys, I realize that I am not alone. Guess I have become a purist  |

I did not think it was possible for someone to destroy the beautiful lines of a midyear Corvette but I must commend you sir - you have succeeded!
