'66 vette rolls off trailer going down highway

Myself and dianna my wife took a weekend trip for our 34th anniversary to San Antonio. On the return trip we passed an older gentleman in a lincoln continental towing a trailer with his 66 vette on it. Well traffic was stop and go for at least twenty miles, so we passed him, he passed us, no big deal. BUT, we finally got past the congestion and we pass him again as we were going past i mentioned to my wife his straps and chain seemed kinda flimsy, as I was saying this we just passed the front of his car when I look in my rear view mirror his vette is unloading going down hwy I-35 North at approximately 70 mph !!! So I am watching in my mirror as his 66 is rolling along the highway with no driver !!! It slowly reaches the grassy part of the shoulder and slows down somewhat before going into a concrete drain and goes on for several more feet before coming to a stop. Miraculously only the whitewall had a major scuff mark on it, the car had no scratches or rash!! http://i1202.photobucket.com/albums/...nny557/mil.jpg

Tire Rash

Kinda hard to see, but the black mark is where the right front tire started rubbing.

All ended well he jumped in started her up, drove to the next off ramp, a passing policeman had stopped to assist brought him back to get his continental and trailer.

I think you just witnessed a true miracle........it is almost impossible to believe. When the Corvette owner tells this story to people, they will think he is senile. (When I seen your post I was feeling really sick and thankfully it turned out fantastic). Thanks for sharing, Greetings, Rob

Hard to believe the 66' did not suffer any damage falling off the trailer.

Well, if there is a God, this pretty much proves that he drives a Vette. Glad that such a beautiful car made it unscathed and that no one was hurt during the whole mishap.

Wow, Amazing that no damage was done. It was definitely the owners lucky day.

You should have asked him to go with you to a convenience store and have him purchase a lottery ticket for you. :D

Damn that guy was incredibly lucky. Next time I bet he doubles up on the tie down straps.

Good thing it was aligned well!!!! And the wheel was only turned just a tad right of center.

Crazy

The driver is not in the picture, the police man just happened to be driving on the service road, the man in front of the car stopped to assist. I wish I had a picture of the diver, he is probably at least 70 ish, cruising along smoking a pipe.
