aftermarket stereo install

I am proably changing gers and am going to install an aftermarket stereo in my 06. i take it I can just hook the new head unit in place of the old one with the use of a adapter harness? is there anything else I need to know? I ask because i own a C4 and in it you had to also hook up two resistors in order to not have an error message.

I have a pioneer in my c6. I don't think there are any resistors. A lot of wiring was involved along with the harness. I recommend speaking to Dennis at D D mods here on the forum. He can hook you up with almost any unit and send it Pre wired so it will be Plug and play!

From what others here have said, you will lose the "beep beep beep" that you used to get when pushing DIC control buttons.

that is not an issue, I was just worried as with the C4, I ordered the stereo from Crutchfield along with the wiring harness and when it was installed I all of a sudden had a sys message, and it turned out that some of the C4 models you had to install two resistors in line to not have this.

You need either a PAC swi jack for radio controls on steering wheel or access module to retain the chimes.

You will need:

which will handle chimes, Onstar, and provide a "healthy" status for the aftermarket radio.

You may also need this for the steering wheel audio controls:

There may be other suitable interfaces that do the same thing - do some internet searches.

The PAC-Audio units seem to work well.

Ask questions in the audio section of this forum. The boys there know there stuff.
