Estimated base cost: $53000

.The car looks awesome in silver..Really harks back to the original stingray....and I usually dig red the most...
I think the silver is amazing... can't wait to see this in person on the streets! HOLLY CRAP! |
Mmmmmmm, silver . . . .

LOL, this is one hideous car, inside and outside. The only part that looks ok is the front since it looks like the new viper. The black pillars look super out of place now with the rear quarter windows in place. Hanging on to my C6 without any doubt.

Just Wowwwwwwwwwwwwww

Silver looks better

Lot of info on that video.
0-60 3.9 seconds 1/4 12.3 @118 1g 70-0 155' 177" length 73.9 " width 48.6" height 3350 est curb weight Two sets of Michelin tires, base and Z51 They mention magnetic shocks avail on Z51(along with non megnetic shocks also) but no mention of magnetic shocks on the base car. They talk about a valve located in front of the mufflers to get rid of the annoying sound when running in 4 cyl mode. Engineer said ALL C7's have the valves, so I guess that indicates the manual transmnission get the AFM, not just the auto. The NPP valves are still located after the mufflers but all four pipes have the valves. The mentioned target horsepower of 450 several times and give the MPG as 17 city/30 hiway. Only real improvement I see over the C6 is they actually designed the front grille to have a decent license plate mount, unlike the wart on the nose of the C6. |
Awesome Video! love the car in the gray with the light colored wheels, also how the tires sit nice & low in the wheel openings.

I like the red. quarter windows? may take some time to grow on me. engine, carbon fiber roof, hood scoop I like!

I absolutely love what I have seen so far!! I think it is going to be an awesome platform for the more powerful version to come. I think I will keep my C6 until the high power vrsion hits the street! Base car buyers are going to be getting a lot for their money on the c7, that is for sure!

The estimates likely come from Car and Driver, not from Chevrolet. I wouldn't freak out about it.

"3350 lbs estimated curb weight"
Seems a bit "porky". Why so heavy? |

Seems a bit "porky". Why so heavy? Exactly. Full aluminum frame, CF hood and roof panel. Still portlier than the C6 GS. |
The www.corvettestingray2014 site is finally working you can actually see it in different colors ....... check it out

Don't like front bumper styling, or the look of the rear. Maybe it'll grow on me or look better in person. The interior design I like though, looks like they copied the Lambo Murcielago and Audi R8. The material quality I hope is a little better than the current stuff, but I doubt it'll be anything spectacular. At $53,000 , you have to compromise somewhere, and I would rather a low quality interior materials and high quality chassis/engine material.
Don't know why they reused the LT1 name, but so far the specs for that engine look very good. 7 speed transmission I wonder about. Porsche did that and most of the reviewers weren't very fond of it. They mention stiffer steering, but I wonder if it'll have any feel to it. It seems like you lose a lot of steering feel going with e-power steering (new porsche, BMW, etc). I've never been a fan of the feel in the c5/c6 so hopefully it's better. Steering in general has just gotten more and more dampened in all cars with all the new tech. If you've ever driven a 70s or 80s Porsche, you'll know what I'm talking about. If it's really going to be ~50-60k for the base model and no ridiculous dealer markup, I'd say it's a damn good deal. A track ready car straight out of the box. Standard equip dry sump, fluid coolers, performance brakes, etc. Only other cars in that range I can think of is the GT500, ZL1, and GTR at the upper end. |
