Did anyone notice this about the c7 or am I blind?
When I took a closer look at the pictures of the red stingray at NAIAS it looked like the manual doesn't have an e brake handle?
Did they get rid of the e brake on the manual and put an electronic one or am I just blind? |
You must not be here often. Yea, it's an electronic e-brake. The button is located on the center console.

Just more tech stuff to go wrong and make the car un-affordable to future owners.
Which could be a boom to older vettes without all the tech. Tech is neat so long as it works. |

An emergency brake that actually works and probably saves a few pounds as well.
I believe it works on all four brakes rather than just the rear two. |

In years past, once in 1963(1957 Ford) and again in 1982(1969 Corvette), I've had two hydraulic brake failures occur and had to use the manual E-brake to stop my car before running a red light in both cases. Sorry, but a waning light would have gotten me killed, whereas the manually operated E-brake(at any speed) got me stopped in time. |
Hopefully it works really well - seems like there were a lot of threads over the years about the C5 parking brake.

Look at the up side, being electric it probably saves weight too I would imagine that there would be no cables, parking brake handle or extra brake shoes in the rear.

If they lock it out when the car is in motion, then what happens if you do need to make an emergence application of the parking brake? While the parking brake might not be called an emergency brake, it sure is nice to have it if there is an emergency need to top the car. |
