C6 427 Convertible versus C7 Convertible
I assume the C7 convertible is as fast as the 427 convertible but what about price? Won't the C7 cost less?
I am looking at year end specials on 427 convertibles and they are still very expensive when compared to 6.2L convertibles. How will dealers move these cars when the C7 comes out? Should they try dumping them now? Glad its not my problem. |
I don't know, but after seeing the 427 Convertibles in person, I'd say that model will probably go down in Corvettes 60 year history as the MOST gorgeous corvette of all time. C7 is beautiful, but not 427 convertible beautiful. Side by side comparision would certainly be cool.

I think this is an interesting question. I like the 427, and I assume I will like the C7 vert once its revealed (like the coupe so why not the vert). So which will be the better price point and value?

I hope the C7 convertible has real roll over protection with functional seat hoops.

BUT, I bet once the C7 feeding frenzy starts there should be plenty of used 427's littering the country as throw aways. You may find pricing rather pleasant.

I highly doubt that the C7 Convertible will out perform the 427 Convertible. It will most likely weigh about the same and have less HP and slightly less torque. I think it will be at least a tenth of a second slower to 60.

Hmmm...
My guess would be that a 2014 (57% stiffer) aluminum-framed 450+hp/450 lb ft torque vert with better seats and tires will be pretty popular. BUT, I would say the same for the 2013 427 vert that will sell for less. What a great problem to have, deciding between those two!:thumbs:

Really, I like the looks of the GS vert much better. Plus if you are including all models, then no way, nothing looks cooler and meaner than a ZR1 or even a Carbon Z06.
I agree the 427 vert is a very desirable car but it's becuase of what's under the hood, not because of its looks. |

It's funny how every time a new vette is announced, the same discussion takes place. The C6 is now yesterday's newspapers & once the C7 starts being produced & available, all interest will be about the new vette & the old one will be just that, old. In 6/8 months, nobody will care about the C6 anymore. Just like the fact most of us C6 owners seldom venture over to the C5 section ( even though a lot of us owned one previously) as nobody cares much about the old versions except those who own them. Old technology is not interesting. We've already been there, done that.

The C6 was a major performance step up from the C5. The C7 is less of a performance car in some respects (heavier, narrower, less tire, cylinder-deactivation, etc), and probably much higher priced. History may show the C6 wide-bodies as a more revered performance Corvette for the $$. :yesnod: :thumbs: And I don't believe there will ever be a wide-body C7. I also don't believe GM's handling claims for the C7 - I think magazine tests will find the heavier, narrower car, on skinnier tires, difficult to match GM's inflated skid-pad claims. :toetap: |
Most of you are forgetting something very important. The 427 is a convertible, and guess what's coming? Summer! There is no c7 of any kind for months, never mind c7 vert this year.
