Took my Vette to breakfast at Waffle House
 

Well, went to Waffle House this morning for breakfast. Parked the Vette and got out. Some lady in a Prius pulls in next to me and starts yelling at me that the Vette is killing the enviroment. I said, well your car is killing jobs, it maybe assembled here, but the majority of parts are made in Japan. She walked away mumbling to herself. :flag:

Ask her if she knows the environmental impact of the production and recycling of her batteries. No need to answer her, just leave her guessing.

Just tell her your Corvette is a hybrid, it burns both gas and tires. I told that to a tree hugger driving Prius owner at REI once and her jaw dropped and she was speechless.

Should have filled her in on the C6's gas mileage compared to other V8s out there. Then you should have waited until she left and followed her to the nearest red light and pulled up next to her, downshifted so she could feel the rumble, then you shoulda taken off leaving her "Vagina" in the dust.

I read a study that said that a Prius with 0 miles on it has already produced as much emvironmental damage as a regular car at 80,000 miles. That's a huge deficit to recover from.:thumbs:

Tell her your car gets close to 30 MPG and that if she would hurry up and die, there would be that much less CO2 greenhouse gas generated in our environment by her fat mouth and ass.

The problem is simple, the batteries in her other eco friendly device weren't working!

I would have let her know that the environmental foot print that goes into making a Prius is larger than what goes into making a Vette (Fuel cost to ship stuff, manufacturing etc etc)

Yes it gets better gas mileage but that's about it (Since the Vette has modern smog stuff)

I had something similar happen to me when I was in my wife's Tahoe once. These green wackos are like a damn cult.

I really wouldn't pay any attention to somebody like that, as most driving these these cars are nut jobs. Personnally I think batteries suck myself, and try to avoid them at all costs. Have one cordless tool in my household, and never any more. Find the batteries just aren't that reliable, especially after a few years. Don't know if you've heard, but since more hybrids are availible now, Prius sales have fallen off this year like a cliff. Darn.

In the landfill business I deal with these type of people daily. They all want zero waste and zero emissions. They don't have a frick'n clue how to get there but they just want to b*tch. She is lucky she didn't run into me. I have to play nice M-F but on the weekend she would have gotten how I really feel.

You should have asked her where her batteries would go when they died or where the power used to charge her car came from........more to the equation than car emissions but some people have tunnel vision.

It's a daily driver and I just passed 70k.

Most of the hybrids make more of a negative impact on the environment with their creation and disposal than they will make up for during their lifetimes of use. I've always thought they were more of a 'feel good' idea than anything else.

I'd venture a guess she'd be pretty upset if she found herself at the gun club and saw not only my C6 but also a bunch of the other objects of my affections. She sounds like she would fit right with my description of "sheeple".

I always give hybrid owners (especially Prius owners) a big smile and a thumbs up.
Sometimes they will smile and ask if I was getting one. I tell them no, but, I appreciate that they are saving more gas for me. You would be surprised how unkind some hybrid owners can be:rock:

Just today as I passed a Prius in a local retail store parking lot, the driver gave me a broad smile and a big "thumbs up".

Moral? Not all Prius drivers are obnoxious, self rightous, big assed, nose picking, dope smoking, long haired, hippy, tie dye wearing, animal abusing, child molesters.

The lady across the street is a liberal tree hugging democrat but I'm always nice to her. One day she felt the need to yell at me and I ignored it...then she did it again the next week. Interestingly, they still have the C6 but traded the Prius for a Chrysler 200.

I do enjoy all the funny comments. Let me give you some ammo for the next time this happens. Go to the Toyota website and search for 2009 North America Environmental Report. They say that the production and life cycle of the Prius is worse than many low MPG cars and trucks. This is one of the reasons they were going to stop making it. However, the sales are too good for them to stop. Money does drive business and the Prius owners are just contributing to the big capitalist they claim to hate.

Happens to me in my H3 Hummer so much, I put this(above) and "Prius Eater" in large letters on the back of it. My wife drives it most of the time and says she either gets a thumbs up, or the finger. I actually had a little girl on a bike point at me one day and yell "earth killer!". What the hell are they teaching those kids anyway?

It seems funny to me that people buy a Prius to save gas, yet every time I see one on the highway they are the ones driving the fastest and tailgating trying to get around. Even when we are in the Vette doing 70+ they still pass us. On Top Gear they took a Prius on their track and drove as fast as it could handle. They followed it with a BMW driving the same speed and guess which car go the best MPG?

Oops. Just went back a page and saw the posting of the BMW vs. Prius MPG contest. If I drive my Coupe M6 nicely I can get close to 30 MPG. On average, I get equal to or better MPG than my 08 Accord.

I've been challenged at the pump in both the Vette and the H3. No one believes me when I tell them the Vette can get 30 mpg and the H3 20. Why do people pass judgement without doing research?
Really got in to it one day with an old hippie in his Prius, it got ugly! I've learned to enjoy the encounters really.....:salute:
