Do I need Z51?
I currently own a 2010 vert with MSRC with an A6 and no Z51. I'm not sure I even like the MSRC in it's current C6 form as it's damn hard for me to tell the difference between tour and sport modes.
Anyways, I'm considering a C7 vert. If I don't track the car is there any compelling reason to get Z51? |
Perhaps you prefer the wheels better? Z51 seems like a screaming deal to me, but it doesn't sound like you need it.

The Z51 C7 is the hignest performing/handling Vette of the new generation, so far. So, no you don't need it. But, its a bargain for what you are spending. :yesnod:

I need the Z51. Minimum. :D

I'm having the same issue with the coupe..... Z51 adds so much weight, but looks so much better than base... I might do it but i'm having a hard time
|
I have to get magnetic ride so I have to get Z51 as well. The only component in the package I'm not enthused about is the dry sump oil system.

I bet most dealer ordered cars are without Z51 and most will be 1LT to keep the cost low and move it out the door quickly.
Even more reason to order it with it. |
I believe
Having it will definitely help resale esp if you get MSRC IMHO

Z 51
When I bought my 2002 the dealer tried to talk me out of it saying the ride would be too harsh. I know the 2013 and 2002 Z51 are different creatures but the dealer could not have been more wrong.
Don't listen to the salesman on this decision is my $.02. I would have missed a great upgrade if I had. I wish I had a track near me so I could put it to real use! |
I'll add my voice to the chorus. The Z51 package -- forged alloys, upgraded Bilsteins, dry sump, ELSD, etc -- seems like a roaring good deal.
|
Actually I think that almost every C7 vert picture I've seen was a "base" and not a Z51. However, if you just want a vert for cruising, and even though the Z51 package is a good deal, why pay extra for it? Use that money for something else you want. BTW I'm sure the base will also be a great car. :yesnod:

My take on the Z51 is it costs more, weighs more, is more complicated and has rear tires that won't hook as good as the 18s. This means in a straight line the Z51 it will be slower than a stripper 14 Corvette.

Do you need the 'best performing wife' available - no
If you could have her for $4,000, would you buy - where do I sign  |
