67 Elkhart blue w green stinger and interior

It went through the Mecum auction last night. Is it real?

Nowhere Man 05-17-2013 05:52 PM

Link to said auction Does not sound like a good combo to me

Rokndad 05-17-2013 06:04 PM

I saw it and it was either a COPO or Brass Hat special order car. At first I thought it was a little ghastly but when they panned around to the green interior it complimented the stinger and it didn't look too bad. For sure you'll never see another one.

Nowhere Man 05-17-2013 06:07 PM

It does not take a COPO to get a non standard paint and interior combo. Just a over ride when ordering the car. A picture if the trim tag will tell the story

This one?

from smith chevrolet in hammond, in

car was on the proteam website sometime ago. i think it dropped off as part of the big sale. i grew up in hammond and use to buy parts from smith chevrolet (i believe the reference to smith brothers is incorrect). interesting color combo.

Geralds57 05-17-2013 11:32 PM

It was advertised as a COPO. Just walking by, you didn't notice the Green unless you were looking for it. The flash brightened it up. http://i39.tinypic.com/p8wv7.jpghttp://i39.tinypic.com/2uz3r0i.jpg

ZEEEE06 05-18-2013 08:34 AM

The bid got to $80,000 and didn't sell.

The blue and green go together remarkably well. In photos at least.

Saw this car in January @ Kissimmee.

I grew up in Hammond also. Also bought many, many parts from Smith Chevrolet.(my brother got his 68' Camaro from them)

I saw the car at Mecum in January too, and honestly didn't care for it. Unique yes, but that's about it.

Now, if you want to give it to me, I could warm up to it. :)

I thought it was very nice in the flesh, though I'm a big E blue fan. That black big brake fuelie next to it was also very nice, and you can just see a hint of a really cool '67 427 4sp Impala behind it

mecum bloomington gold

i see the car in the line up for bloomington gold auction along with a 67 red/black 435 that was on the proteam site awhile back.

Despite the last post these are not typed by union workers. The office person typed 1966 instead of 1967. Like the rest of us it's hard to get used to the new year.

Yes, there were computers in the 60's, but they were mainframes, and nobody except the "data processing" folks had access to them, and input and output was on IBM punchcards, which were bulk-processed for output on IBM line-printers. Yes, input (keypunch) errors were possible, and were relatively common compared to today's digital data transfer.
