True.

at this point, after 230 posts, can't we just say some like M6 some like A6, some need M6 for various reasons, some need A6 for various reasons. We all love our cars and they are all corvettes and waving to another vette owner is cool, and seeing another vette on the road is an awesome feeling???? Basically what i'm saying is "Can't we all just get along?":cool:

NO!!!!because I like the A4:lol::lol:

Automatics are no joke at the track.

It's sort of a generic term and definitions may vary from person to person but when I hear "track" that means a road course....not a (straight-line) drag strip. I wouldn't say an automatic transmission is a "joke" with any application but I'll put it this way....I don't know any serious Corvette road racers that use an automatic transmission. In its present form the Corvette automatic transmission lacks the precision and control afforded by the manual transmission. If and when Corvette comes-up with a truly responsive, lag-free ('seamless') automatic paddle-shift I'll be there. For now the Corvette automatic doesn't cut it (at the track....a road course). :)

+1

Bad info from SK360.

One of my best friends is a sales manager at Chevy and drives a Grand Sport - he made sure to investigate what the service dept does when a Corvette comes in with a significant issue.

My 03 was a 6 sp manual, my 13 is a 6 sp manual. Before that my 97 Z-28 was a 6 sp manual. My 68 Camaro is a 4 sp manual. I have owned it for the total 204K miles on it. Now that one is a problem shifting, both cluth and shifter. The new cars are so easy to shift its not even a discussion about what to get as far as I am concerned.

I believe if my 3 functioning brain cells remember, 95% of the 2013 are automatics. That means that only 5% are manuals.

I think that is due to the automatics are so much better today, and the crowd is definitely an older group who just wants to cruise easily down the road. That is not me I am 69 on the way to 70 and I want to shift til I die!

I already am off the GM warranty. Took me 4 months.

To my knowlege the '13 production statistics are not yet out, but going off of 2012 production stats - 65% automatic and 35% manual.

A trans tune voids your warranty. Why somebody would willingly do that is beyond me.

Maybe they want more hp & tq. So many people are worried about the warranty. I voided my warranty a long time ago, as always you have to pay to play. If people waited for their warranty to expire before they mod their Vet, this forum would not be as interesting, IMO. As always each to their own, just make sure to wave...

I have no need to prove you wrong. You are free to believe whatever you choose to believe.

I choose to believe my tuner, who has far more credibility than you do.

Who cares what transmission someone else's car has? As long as your car has what you like....:D

Joe and I are neighbors Just going through the town of Westmont (5 blocks long) there are 6 stop lights and a set of RR tracks. Here in the Chicago area an automatic is the only smart choice unless you like to be constantly shifting through stop lights and turn arrows.

I think you need to wake up a few more of those brain cells. See below.

:iagree: Not very likely that big a change would be made between model years.

And that my friend should be the closer to this thread. FWIW I have one of each and enjoy them both.

mcandrew67 05-21-2013 01:38 PM

all these guys that say the A6 is crap on the track, I bet have never road coursed it. I have, ask the Z06 and Ferarri guys I passed how crap it was.
I did need to add a tranny cooler to my car but that was all.

Ill believe the people who wrote the software your tuner uses.

I've fallin completely in love with my wifes 13 GS A6. GM changed A6 paddle shift operation for 12 & 13. They prefill clutches so shift paddle shift happens very fast. They also rev match down shifts. This is a huge advantage when exploring twisty roads. I own a corvette shop & didn't know about the rev matching until I was running some corners. Surprised they didn't talk this up more.

inner3 05-21-2013 01:53 PM

quite a bit of bashing for a corvette forum, I would expect some of these comments on a Viper forum or similar.
