So did we ever conclusively decide whether coupes are superior to convertibles, black is cooler than chrome, sticks are better than auto, and slender is better than fat body, or any other variations in preference?

I must have closure!

Ill believe the people who wrote the software your tuner uses.

You do that.

Makes no difference to me, but if you feel so inclined, feel free to "prove it". ;)

Well, there are no Mustangs or Vipers here to bash, so I guess we feel we have to turn on each other. :ack:

If you think this thread is bad, check out the monster "C7 makes C6 obsolete" thread - as well as some others where C7 fanboys and C6 owners are purse slapping each other.

quite a bit of bashing for a corvette forum, I would expect some of these comments on a Viper forum or similar.

I've noticed a big change around here. People aren't nearly as polite as they used to be.

can someone elaborate on this. I'm stock still but curious for down the road....

More or less the part of flashing back to stock they can still see something???

The E38 stores the Calibration IDs (CVNs) of the last 10 calibrations that were loaded onto it. GM has their own specific Cal IDs and although a dealer cannot read these, GM can (and does) request a snapshot of the ECM and they indeed can see these.

You're best bet if you want to tune without it being detectable is to buy a second ECM and tune it and keep your stock one. That is what I did for my truck, but it's only a 5 min job to swap ECM/TCM in my truck since it's right in the engine bay. Little bit more to getting at the Vette's ECM. They both use the E38, and I know, for a fact, that what I stated is true. You can choose to believe me or SK360. Up to you.

Being a new comer (last year) I don't know, but I have heard... that is was actually wilder "back in the early days".

I have been told that members would dare each other to show up at NCM Gatherings or other events so that they could literally fist fight.

Probably nothing happened, but I've heard that there were a few members in full "keyboard commando" mode way back when.

guyster05LBM 05-21-2013 02:17 PM

Nothing new here I haven't heard before on other forums. It was the same on the M3forum.net. SMG/DCT vs manual, coupe or convertible, garage queens vs daily drivers, etc. What a bunch of skirts. :smash:

Yes, base C6s may be "base" and they may not be "base."

Mostly all convertibles also. Just my observations.

Production stats show otherwise.
Coupe/Convertible
2008 20,030/7,549
2009 8737/3343
2010 6761/3338
2011 8324/3562

After I retired I sold Chevy's for 20 months. The dealership I worked for sold about one Corvette a month. In that time I never saw one manual trans. It's because they have become luxury sports cars.

Learn to shift better

From "Road and Track." I think they are referring to an average-good shift time; however, some slide back is unavoidable, even with speed shifting.

ProfessorDeath 05-21-2013 04:16 PM

There we go. Nice job fellas, let's inject a little humor and lighten this up before people start dropping dead from aneurysms due to this thread.

I'm in Colorado, so the view is familiar...however, even COS gets traffic, and Denver's is fierce. I-25 can be a parking lot.

They also rev match down shifts. This is a huge advantage when exploring twisty roads. I own a corvette shop & didn't know about the rev matching until I was running some corners. Surprised they didn't talk this up more.

It is a great feature. Matches revs as well as I did with my M-6, probably better. Even just driving around at low speeds coming to a stop sign it is great fun. Still not fully comfortable with the paddle shifts, completely new to me, but upshifting with the right and downshifting with the left seems to be the most intuitive use.

billyboy47 05-21-2013 04:52 PM

............. i bought the a6 and i'm happy with it. do i really care what other people think of what i buy? when i was in nam did people give a.........about the guys over there, no. so i could care less about something so trivial as a transmission.:ack:

Dendk 05-21-2013 04:56 PM

If it were a daily driver I prefer an automatic, weekend or track car a manual would be nice...I like both but own an auto.
