There's always that 3rd option that nobody ever talks about.

The z51 coupe gets my vote as the more striking super car..
The convertible is nice but the coupe screams holly sh t! The coupe needs the 19/20 rims where the vert can get by with 18/19 inch wheels..the vert is visually lower so the smaller diameter rims are ok. On the coupe...I in my opinion it must have the 19/20 inch wheels to balance the design. JMO http://i1175.photobucket.com/albums/...ps16a383ae.jpg I like the visual on this better....holly crap that's hot! Though I really do like the looks of the convertible |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the biggest downside with the vert... no track. You can't even legally test out your 1/4 mile time! Where's the fun in that? Now if you could track the vert, might be a different story. Until then, get the coupe. Take it to the track. Experience what makes it a true performance car!

It's like asking which is better... Chocolate or Vanilla. I like the vert but the coupe is awesome too. :o)

No disrespect to the convert crowd, but I've never been a Corvette convertible fan. They are probably the best looking convertible in the world with the top down, but top up, the roof looks like a wart to me. Get the coupe.

It's the only one you've seen w/blacked out windows because there is no interior. That car is hanging sideways on the wall. |
They are both beautiful. I tend to think the coupe with its radically changed greenhouse would be the more striking of the two as it is much different from the previous c6 generation design.
Slightly less so with the convertible... Both nice....but the coupe for the win. |

What self respecting corvette afficinado wouldn't want a C7 with blacked out windows hanging sideways on the wall in their home (or man cave, since the wife probably wouldnt appreciate that)?

Decisions, Decisions. I still don't know what to do.
Well maybe I should wait until Dec for the Convertible. I am getting married in Hawaii in July and it will be expensive!!!!!!!! I will be stressing about money in August when I would have to pay for the coup. At least by December I will have some more cash saved up. So I guess me getting married will force me to get a convertible. |
I vote for the coupe. Looks much better then the vert IMHO. Much more aggressive.
I've only been in c5 and c6 coupes and always wondered what if any difference there is when the targa top is off compared to when the top of a vert is down. It would be a harder decision if there wasn't the targa top but for me its easy choice for coupe because you get the extra trunk space, almost certainly better stiffness and the looks. |
The top comes off the coupe. Seems like the closest to the best of both worlds to me.
The couple also has the side vents (which I personally like). |
All sports cars look best in their hardtop versions IMHO. The true intended profile and overall shape and form always seem to be first design priority with the designers. Verts are usually second priority, though some great car designs are both done at the beginning. Corvette, Ferrari 458, all Lamborghini's, and most Astons are good examples of designs where both configurations are considered initially. Porsche 911 is a good example of a design which did not consider the vert from the start. Then there's the stigma of the show off drivers in verts. Sometimes it seems that some vert drivers while at a stoplight look around to see if other people are looking at them. Just a observation that I've noticed with a lot of the convertible crowd here in California. A bunch of showoffs !!! The base Corvette has the luxury of dual top configurations with the removable top and the vert is certainly a compromise spatially.
