2010 GS Coupe.....looking at one

Found a 2010 GS with just 3kthe miles. Makes me want to go for it.
Coming from a 07 base coupe.
What's a good deal?
What should I keep an eye on?
Checks out service wise, at a GM dealer. 2+ years left on warranty since it didn't sell until last year.
Anything would be helpful.

what trim level?

schmegeggie 07-18-2013 02:23 PM

3LT, VY, Painted silver wheels.
Dealer is asking $48k. It's been sitting on the lot so long, it wouldn't start.
6 speed, which is what I prefer, but is keeping them from moving it.
All things considered, they asked me to "make an offer".
I asked for the GM service history, no problems.
Would an offer of $40k be embarrassing?
Considering the C7's are about to hit the street, that's about where I'm at.

NEVER be afraid to "embarrass" the dealer -- make the offer- worst that can happen is they say no - or counter offfer. I'd say maybe $42k is close.... you never know without trying.

btw -- you MUST get a NEW battery with it -- otherwise you will have problems.

VanSant 07-18-2013 02:46 PM

I paid 44k for my 10' 3lt w/ 8700 miles, they were asking 48.5k. I think I got a good deal!

VanSant 07-18-2013 02:46 PM

Oh, and brand new Bridgestone run flats

:spit: OK...that was funny. :D

Back to the OP's question...

There's a 2010 GS coupe (6-speed manual) on the Carmax website. It has 7K miles and Carmax is asking $41,998 for it. That tells me that the wholesale value of that car must be around $38K. I don't think they will take your offer...but I would sure work hard to get that number closer to $40K and not $48K.

Not to offend anyone, but I don't think the car's yellow color is helping its marketability. So you have that working in your favor if you like that color. :yesnod:

Offer him $42k, it'll be a 4 year old car in a couple months. I bought a brand new 13 GS with a 1LT for $47k a few months ago so a new 3LT is probably mid 50's. Good luck

I appreciate the opinions. I'm weighing my options right now about my current 07 Coupe.
I may just offer them $40k, depending on the trade value. I hate to trade this car, some forum member could get a nice, well cared for Coupe if they had the cash handy right now.....just sayin'

You need to work the deal as an outright purchase to begin with. Don't mention a trade at this point. You are not going to insult them with any offer! What they want is an offer to get the ball rolling.... If they have an offer, then they feel they have a buyer if both sides can reach an agreement. After that point, then throw the trade in the mix and you will see what they are really willing to put in your car for their inventory.

Embarrassed? No way. They aren't embarrassed to ask MSRP+, are they? No way a'10 GS is worth 48K. If it were I would sell mine in a heartbeat. :yesnod:

BLEKVET 07-18-2013 10:05 PM

I just bought an '11 with 2800 miles, 3lt for 47K and warranty to the end of the year. Oh, it also had approx 12k in mods.

40 to 42 is the right price for the Vette in question. Go get'em Op !

48 grand???That's friggin nuts.I bought my 13 2LT GS for 48 grand!I'd say no more then 38 for it.PERIOD. There was a 15k mile 2010 GS on some lot down south last year for 37ish if I remember right..Screw them if they want 40 anything for it...35-38 is top dollar.

Four weeks ago I looked at an essentially perfect white 2012 GS 3LT coupe with 6 speed manual transmission, red interior, performance exhaust, embroidered logo on seats, chrome wheels and red calipers, with 5000 miles. This was at a dealer also, which sold it, serviced it and took it back on trade (the forum dealer in Gaithersburg, Md.) They were asking $51k, but they told me there was some room to negotiate. I ended up with a similar brand new car instead for $56k due to all the current rebates. I think the $48 is a bit high for a 2010, and with the C7 coming out you have some more leverage. Go for the low forties. Good luck, Craig

Got my 2012 GS 100th with 3LT (and 2112 miles) for $49k. Fire-sale on 2012s and 2013s.

40k, with new battery and new BStone runflats installed.
