Getting Impatient
I have to get out of my 1987 Porsche 944 Turbo to get into a C5. Unfortunately, the private sale market is not making this easy, as it's not always the most wanted vintage automobile.
Of course I'd take it pretty hard to trade it in on one with a dealer but I'd be out of my dilemna. Can't seem to find any reputable dealers selling any used ones, and when they do, their prices blow. What do you suggest? I'm getting answer to the point of making a bad decision. |
If you tried auto trader already then be more specific about what you want, coupe, convertible etc. And increase your miles in your search like unlimited. Just so you can see whats out there.
If you find something to far away there's always trucking outfits that will bring it to your door. That's what I did and it was flawless. |

keep it , buy some car polish, get happy. Accept that the market place feels differently about your car. Or move to Southern California, Jed. We have plenty of german cars around here

You might try listing it on Ebay as I have sold a few vehicles on there for decent money when the local paper or CL was not working , always somebody out there that wants what you have provided it is priced reasonably. Many of my car sales happen after the auction is over but ebay did it's job by getting me lookers that did turn into a buyer. Last one I listed only was $42 I believe for the 10 day auction.

Have you tried listing on
www.rennlist.com www.pelicanparts.com Both have very active classified sections for P-Cars Make sure you have lots of pictures and the car is clean Also Ebay has a classified section you can list vs auction |
My GF had the same car you want to part with. Suggestion, just hang in there and you will find that for every seat there is an a**! It took her awhile (5 months) but she sold and got her price. Now a proud owner of a Pontiac Solstice which she just loves. Good luck.

I have heard that Adams Polishes do a wonderful job, Maybe it can turn it into a C5?
Just joking, Good luck with your decision. |

That's pretty awesome with the engine transplant. Lots of guys do it.
No, I am impatient because I want in that C5 in the worst way. I don't want to do the Porsche thing anymore. It's a great car - don't get me wrong, but I've always want a Vette, why shouldn't I go for it? There is an endless amount of them in my area. I'm on Pelican Parts now and just have to renew my dues on Rennlist before I can list classified there. Ebay will be next. My biggest issue is that you can buy Turbos all day long for $9000 or less, but you can't find one like mine very often. So unless someone wants one in the condition mine is in, they're buying the $9000 one. A quick question though: any major concerns between standard or automatic transmissions? |
