68 427 oil pressure line

Working on the finer points of assembling the L71 block in my 68. Question I've stumbled on is the oil pressure line. I found the location in drivers side block, but the existing line with fitting doesn't appear to be long enough. So 2 questions:
1. I see vendors sell a plastic line for 68 427 and a metal line for 69+, which is correct? The current is a black (probably plastic) line but I've seen some NCRS examples with the metal line.
2. How easy it to replace said line through the firewall to the gauge? Any ways to splice and use the existing line?

Thanks for any help. I'm starting to appreciate all the little things that go into these cars!

The plastic line is very forgiving and easy too install! Copper is most likely the correct look but it has to be handled gently and be careful of kinks:thumbs:

I'm pretty sure the plastic line was correct, although I believe it was a clear plastic, not black.

You're going to have to remove the gauge bezel to get to the oil gauge. I'd tie a string to that end and pull the line out from the engine side. Then use the string to fish the new line.

Do you have the short metal line at the engine block end also? The plastic line doesn't go all the way to the block. Maybe you know this already, if so I apologize.
