Obviously a reputable source for the information would be helpful.

If it is true, it's really a shame because it would likely be a car that cannot be bought for less than $100K. The C6 Z06 could be bought for $70,000 easily (with discounts). But a car that replaces the ZR1 and Z06 and has over 600hp I don't see that happening.

Why don't you see that happening?

Look at what the evolution of the Z06 became. It was, essentially, the ZR1 with a different engine. I can easily see a single platform with two (or more) different engine options in slightly widebody fitment. Y'know, back to the future.

2016 or 2015? With it debuting in Detroit early next year, I assumed it would be a 2015.

i just thought it was a little funny if you ordered the Z51 op. it will be out dated in a yr.by a faster car.they did say there was no plan for a ZR1 .

No ZR1 does not necessarily mean no Hi-Po version. A good possibility is the L-88 badge, which I understand had been re Trade Mark 'ed by GM a year or two ago.

:iagree:

It's a possibility for sure. Won't know for 2-3 years anyways.

It wont be over 100k. Do you really think a Corvette is going to have a higher base price then their main competition -- The Viper?

JudgeNjury 09-03-2013 09:13 AM

The z51 mrc with npp at under 60 grand only does zero to sixty in 3.8 seconds....has amazing brakes and corners at over 1.0 lateral g....

Its tops speed is in the neighborhood of 190 mph....

Why would anyone consider that c7 z51 a high performance track capable car?

Because most feel it is still a downgrade compared to the C6Z06. Besides the C6Z has a huge aftermarket.

A track capable car?? No, I'd call it a track-proven car.

Not apples to apples. Take a look at the current BASE Z06 MSRP. Take a look at the C6 base MSRP and GS coupe MSRP. Then compare it to the current C7's BASE MSRP. Current trends seem to indicate it will be very close to the C6Z's price.

I think and hope you are right as I'm holding out for one if the price is similar.

Unfortunately, as mentioned in a different thread, I believe CAFE regulations might affect the base price of the high performance, less fuel efficient models. That's what the future will eventually hold, high horsepower less fuel efficient vehicles will be higher priced to increase margins and limit volume to reduce the impact on CAFE fleet averages.

Snorman 09-03-2013 09:43 AM

IMO, ~75% of the people who are "holding out" for a C7 Zxx variant either won't buy one or won't buy one for several years after heavy discounts are in place.

I might hold out for the C8 ZR1. Not sure but it should arrive around 2023.

StingRaycer 09-03-2013 10:08 AM

I was told we would flying cars by 2023 - that's what I'm waiting for!! the ZR1-F-22??
