As a technical contributor of articles to this forum, do you believe this will be utilized in near-future Corvettes? Thanks.

I do believe that this transmission will eventually show up in the Corvette. Dual clutch transmissions are designed and intended specifically for people who want to shift for themselves (enthusiasts).

Having said that, the only reason it might not make it to the Vette would be because of HP/torque limitations, but I can't imagine a world where GM would develop this transmission and not be 100% certain that it was going in the Corvette, their flagship sports car.

To make a long story epic, yes, I firmly believe this is going in the Vette eventually. Near future? that's another story... I'd say 2016-ish.

Regarding Corvette application, speculative there as here. The astute here appreciate the OP's input and might give his speculation more weight.

And who would've thought, one of the C7's staunchest critics from the get go would be out spy shooting the C7 Z and now getting excited about impending dual clutch tech in the future. Seeing your progression through the stages of new gen denial has been as fun as to watch as the C7 all these months.:D:cheers:

My opinion is definitely speculative and while I have some connections at GM they're all keeping this very quiet. The fact that the input/output shaft aren't linear is telling and might point to use in a FWD application, but I can't imagine that GM would debut something like this in a Cruze before a Corvette.

But I've been wrong before and am sure I'll be wrong again. When I hear more, y'all will be the first to know...

It really is something to get excited about. Although, I like the look and feel of a stick and clutch pedal more, a dual clutch Vette is exciting to see as GM is keeping their ear to the ground with how the rest of the sports car world is going. Something tells me dual clutch will find its way on the Super Vette too....

I hope you are right, I have my reservations that it will happen soon though and it may cost a fortune. I am just hoping for a good auto in the performance version.

It had to be fun, I have never laughed so hard the last 9 months.

Since Porsche has offered the PDK(DCT) sales are at 75%. Not even the best drivers can shift as fast and efficiently as the PDK. With the sport chrono option with launch control the 911S with only 400hp outperforms the C7 with Z51 in the 0 to 60.

Just imagine what the C7 will do with DCT. The option is 4050 in a Porsche. That gives you full auto and manual paddle shifters. However I would not hold your breath for this option. If GM just filed for the patent, it might be two or three years before you see it in a Corvette. In the next five to ten years the manual trans will go the way of the dodo bird. Ferrari no longer offers MT and Porsche offers only the PDK trans on the upcoming 911 GT3.

How many times have I got to tell you that a Vette will never get a DCT. This is for a front drive high volume global car. For God's sake, wake TFU. Bunch of big babies.
