Our first Sold and delivered Stingray goes to Oregon with the shortest wait!pic/story

JT from Maryland was the first deposit on the Stingray and the first Stingray ordered...and the first to cancel after the car had been built...business decision caused him to cancel and he felt sick on many levels...a split second after JT cancelled I get a call from Marty W in Oregon, he was referred from another West Coast C7 customer of mine. He wants a Stingray asap...I said "How would a Black 7spd manual 2LT do?" He echoed loud enough " I will take it!" So he called just at the right moment literally and I walked up to the GSM and said John cancelled but Marty wants the Stingray that's built and in route! So Marty's Stingray left Criswell today after we Fed Ex'd the paperwork back and forth the last two days and his new 2014 Stingray is headed to his stable of exotic cars in Oregon where he resides.>>> Marty made my day today, after his Stingray was loaded on the Plycon truck headed West and I had forwarded pictures to him he gave me one of the highest compliments that I could receive...he said and I quote " Mike, I have owned 30 Ferrari's and countless exotic cars over the last 50 yrs of buying new cars and I just have to tell you...You are the Best, You are a Pro!" " You made the whole process seamless!" I thanked him for the kind words and said for him to call me when he receives his Stingray. Enjoy the pics of Marty's 1st Stingray but not his last from me. This is 1 of 9 Stingrays headed to Oregon that I have sold this quarter...4 will be drop shipped to the same dealer in Bend, Oregon!

A lot of us have the privilege of working with Mike. There are good Corvette sales people all over the country but in my opinion there is none better then Mike.
We could all wear campaign buttons that read:

Dam that looks awesome. I was a late comer to the C6 having bought a 2003 Z06 in 2004 after seeing photo's of the C6. I finally came around and owned 2 C6's but for me right now the C7 is the best Corvette ever produced.

You new owners are very fortunate and I envy you.

Awesome story Mike! I'm one of the other Oregon orders that Mike is drop shipping to Bend, OR. My car is the evil twin of this black one. I've got a 3LT Arctic White/Yellow Calipers on order! Well, maybe mine is the good twin? :D

Anyone else notice that in the background of a couple of the photos? Nice color.

Am out of line here?

But why didn't the dealer pick up his waiting list and call customers who had already put down a deposit and ask them if they wanted to puchase the car? I am sure one of those people on their list would have wanted the opportunity make the choice to buy a car now or wait until their exact order arrived.

Its seems that would have been the fair thing to do rather than sell it immediately to a random caller. Maybe I missed something here.....

Not out of line at all...they say timing is everything. I knew my customers directly in line behind him did not want either one of three things: stick, black paint and or a NON Navigation vehicle. This vehicle in question is a stick, black paint with out Navigation. I had to make an immediate decision. It's not as easy at it seems but after 35 yrs of selling Corvettes I know I made the correct one.

it would of been a waste of time - at this juncture. Those still waiting have their C7 ordered... exactly like they want it to be (options & color).

 for the dealership in getting that Corvette in someones hands so quickly.

Acually I am afraid to come up because you still have two white 60th anniversary 427 verts left. I might be too tempted! - but I would like to sit in a '14 model.

That's not true. Some of us are waiting for an allocation. Having said that, I would not have taken this car and would wait for exactly what I do want.

We lived in Central Oregon (Sisters, Oregon) for 25 years.

So, here is what living in Oregon does for you:

No sales tax

A State mandated (maximum allowed) $75.00 dealer doc fee.

Dealer has the option of providing the buyer with license plates (not vanity, though) for $25.00 at the time of the sale. So, you can drive your new car off the lot with new license plates AND 4 year tags.

Every 2 years thereafter (after your 4 year original tags expire), your tag renewal fee is $96.00. So, bottom line is...... this amounts to $48.00 per year for your car registration fee in Oregon.

No smog check...... IF you live East of the Cascade Mountains, as we did.

Inexpensive car insurance because you live in a rural area (again, we lived in Central Oregon).

The trade offs living in Oregon:

High income taxes. I believe about a 10% (minimum) State income tax.

High property taxes. In some counties, in and around larger cities like Portland, property taxes can approach 3% of the assessed values.

Always trade offs. They have to get their money from somwhere, some how. The biggest issue has always been that Oregon has no sales tax, so tourists pay nothing for services provided to them (police/fire/roads/parks, etc.) when they visit Oregon. The resident property owners cover those expenses through their proerty taxes.

To make this post relevant...... Mike Furman rocks! Our best friend in Oregon has a C7 Courtesy Delivery happening in the next few weeks from Mike. That C7 will be delivered on a truck with 3 other C7's to the Chevrolet dealer in Central Oregon who agreed to provide those Courtesy Deliveries. Bend, Oregon will be rocked with 4 C7's hitting this small community all at the same moment. The dealer will be known as Criswell West!!! Kudos to Mike Furman for putting this all together, and kudos to the dealer in Central Oregon for providing the Courtesy Deliveries to these 4 Furman-Criswell C7 customers. Incrediably, this dealer even has a dedicated Corvette Specialist Tech!!!

How business is done, folks.
