My first 61
After a few go rounds with C1 project cars, I finally picked one up that moves under it's own power. It's a back in the day Vette that had visited Connecticut Drag Way at least once in it's life. I'd like to get some history on it and get in contact with former owners.
A Connecticut car for at least the past 40 years, I recall seeing it growing up in Wallingford, then while in college in New Britain, being a single guy in Rockville and a couple of years ago during the Crusin on Main show in Manchester. In the 70's it used to be orange, then sported a custom blue panel paint job and finally was painted green 30+ years ago. Recently picked up the vanity plate WICKED for it. I love the stance and it's what I've been looking for all these years. Anyone else remember this 61? http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...pse87c0f84.jpg |

i have always liked the 'gasser' look. mine used to look like that because i had to use airshocks on the back to clear the tires and there were a/c spacers on top of the coil springs to raise the front.
when i changed the front to IFS and the wheels to narrower rallys i was able to drop it lower to a more 'stock' look. Bill |
Thanks everyone, appreciate the warm welcome. Will post a few more pictures when I return from traveling next week. In the meantime, she has a 1969 350 block, T 10 transmission and came with the original 4:11 gears. Has 3:36's in it today. Scatter shield, tractions bars, 3 pc front end lift kit, reversed leaf springs and a vintage black roll and tuck interior. Plus a real Connecticut Drag Way class winner decal on the windshield. Way cool.
The Wicked license plate on the 64 will eventually go on the 61. http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps6a26868d.jpg |
