GT500 vs C7 Acceleration...........

Based on the HUGE lead the C7 got due to taking off first and how fast the GT500 caught up and passed him this looks like no contest.

Not that I thought it would be, but interesting regardless.

Put the GT500 engine in the C7 and you would have a real race car.

The C7 did very well... Held him off till 120mph. The end was predicted though. Still a nice showing C7:thumbs:

Hmm.. Are you saying a car with 200 more hp is faster?

Great work detective!

Being able to actually put the power to the ground is pretty important. Still surprised the Mustang has so many issues at the low end. I'd expect the Z51 to do even better with the launch, possibly holding it off until the acceleration favors the corvette again.

GT500 had a very tall first gear. 3.31 differential with a 2.66 first gear is not ideal for launching. Many are installing a 3.73 or 4.10 gears with sticky tires. The result would be quite different. Unlike the Corvette changing out a gear in a GT500 is very cheap in comparison.

I used to own a GT500. Great on the straights, but I will take my C6 in the mountains of Colorado any day. I know that when I get my C7 that it will only be that much sweeter!

:iagree:

Bolt on a supercharger on the c7 and say goodbye to the Shelby. :smash:

Note that it took ~13 seconds for the GT500 to catch and pass the C7, which means in a quarter mile race the GT500 was going to be chasing.
Just like this...

There is about a 6-7 mph trap speed difference between the two cars.

Imagine the how badly the GT500 would destroy a 911, especially if it wasn't an "S" model, and probably even worse if it was a 2wd car.

The 2013 GT500 is a monster... $3,000 in mods and you're at 700+rwhp

themonk 11-09-2013 04:32 PM

the only reason C7 got the lead is because he was the starter, whoever honks always gets the jump.

That statement makes zero sense??? The Corvette will never start catching back up - the GT500 with 662 hp is a 200 mph car, the Vette with 460 hp is a 185 mph car. Although the Vette is 600 lbs lighter and has far better weight bias, hp still counts in most drag races. Frankly, I am surprised it wasn't until about 70 mph that the GT500 started to catch up, but from 80 to 120, it pretty much had the Corvette for lunch, and it would have kept pulling away right up through 180 mph.

They are a monster some of the stock GT500 are dynoing close to and some over 600hp and 600lb/ft TQ...I had a GT500 and they are very easy to mod.

Stock vs stock the 13-14 GT500's will give the ZR1 all it can handle...out of the box they're a 11.50 at 125 plus car with no problems.

I agree...the GT500 will do a 0 to 60 in 3.5 sec also so I don't see the C7 taking it on take off either.

A drag race is the only thing the gt500 will better the c7 in.

GT500 probably doesn't have runs in the paint and has better fit & finish as well

Seriously tho, I dislike Fords but for the money, that GT500 is tempting.
