Hopefully the driver of the car that he hit is OK.
Well, we now know that the police nail strips will not flatten run-flats, at least in this case.

FlyBono24 12-14-2013 03:59 AM

The other car was actually running a red light, you can see it on the video.

And the cops shot the guy in the back several times... typical LAPD... he's dead now according to several people online.

VetteHalen 12-14-2013 06:15 AM

aw geez, news is reporting Corvette driver shot by police is dead:

http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/lo...lowTwt_LABrand

that is very sad, especially if you watch the uncut video and see that the driver was trying to flee with nothing in his hands and no "threatening gesture" towards police.

also worth noting: pay attention to the traffic signals right before the crash. it appears the Corvette actually had the green light and the other "innocent" driver ran a red light.

WATCH THE UNCUT VIDEO AT YOUR OWN RISK(crash occurs around 20:30 in the video, shooting shortly after):

video of just the crash:

You have to love the blue gangsters. That guy was just trying to run.

AORoads 12-14-2013 08:29 AM

Yeh, the other car, the red one, was at fault. So were all the other drivers for OVER AN HOUR who were driven around, practically run off the road, cut off, by this driver in a Silver Corvette.

Seriously, you think this was an innocent driver using a 3,000 lb. lethal weapon? Yeh, this is a real kumbaya moment.:ack:

Boomer111 12-14-2013 08:55 AM

This proves that MS is the fastest color....after all an hour chase.

Seriously though despite this drivers very dangerous driving putting other drivers at risk this shooting needs to be questioned big time.

Cops just can not act like this, they have to be above reproach.

Said day for the local police.

And yes I get this corvette driver put others in harms way including the pursuing police, but at the time he was not threatening. But I guess the police way of thinking was to protect any innocent pedestrian bystanders from possible threatening moves by the fleeing suspect.

I wonder how many shots were fired and if they all hit their target..

Just saw a blip on the 6am CBS local news, they gave the story a full 30 seconds/:rolleyes:

Uh, no. If you do some research later in the video you can time the lights. The lights are timed for 30 seconds each direction. The Corvette's light does not turn green until 36 seconds after the minute and the accident occurs at 20:36. The Corvette had a red light and the red car had a yellow.

The Corvette driver was killed? Sounds like proper cleansing of the gene pool to me. He came out of the car and ran TOWARD the cops instead of away before he went around the back of the car. If you're that stupid we don't need you breeding and voting.

Interesting how the news works. " Corvette driver". So if he were driving a Taurus would the headline read "Taurus driver".. I would bet not.

If it's just someone with a gun they may get a suprise. If it is a cop I will immediately do whatever they say and let the courts sort it out. That's the differnce between being really stupid and having an IQ above room temperature. For 20 some minutes we see this guy being really stupid. Then for a few seconds we see him being really REALLY stupid. He was not running away. Running away would mean he was increasing the distance between him and the cops. He was running TOWARD the cops.

:iagree:Do not have to waste more tax $$ on this dude:thumbs:

The driver of the Vette is dead for one simple reason. Lack of respect. Plain and simple. I have never had the desire to run from the police. Lights come on, I stop. He disrespected their badge and their authority and paid the price for it.

:lurk:They can't fill cop positions in LA, gee, I wonder why...

The US Supreme Court has previously ruled that in these wild and reckless chases that endanger everyone on the road, the police are justified in using Deadly Force to stop the chase even if the initial offense was only a traffic violation IIRC.

Shooting the guy when the car chase was ended, as he tried to flee on foot, may not go over so well. But I don't have any sympathy for him.

Hypothetical questions:

1) If your wife, son, daughter, or even you had been in the car the perp hit, and was seriously injured or killed, would you think the perp was the victim in this incident?

2) Would you have the same attitude about 'blue gangsters'?

Just curious

I thought the exact same think. I gave seen a lot of chase videos on the different news stations and they will never call out the cat make, except to say a later model sedan or something like that. Now we have one that involves a Corvette and that is their opening line.

It's a shame that the media had to point out the fact that a Corvette was used in this crime. Attempting to make corvette the bad element. Just as they do if a gun were involved. The real issue is the mental illness and the not inanimate object.
