C7 Is it a Vette or a Hundai?

Sat in a C7 today at the Washington Auto Show. Looks good from the outside but that changes when you get into the driver's seat.

The wheel feels smaller than my C5. Maybe just the difference in the wheel but the paddles inside the wheel felt kinda chintzy too. Plastic?
With the seat all the way down and back I felt like I was looking through the top of the windshield. I am 6'3" and do not have that experience in my C5 vert. The switch buttons for the windows and memory options also feel very light and flimsy. Better suited for a TV remote or XBOX control. For the likes of me I could not open the passenger door from the outside. Made sure that the doors were electrically unlocked. Did not like the inside door button. Why not a real latch.
Trunk was full of the top. Two other people said they doubted that you could put 2 full golf bags in the trunk. My C5 trunk has ample room even with the top down and stored in the trunk.
I was totally unimpressed by this remarkable car of the year.

You should stick with your C5 then. It has a much nicer interior. Lol

Sounds like your purchasing a Hundai. No allocations or constraints.

:iagree:

Everyone knows the C5 interior was the best. I REALLY missed it in my C6.

Well, almost all the magazine, blog, etc. reviewers disagree with you.

For example, MT:

The Stingray's interior sizzles with both style and substance.

This is probably one of the worst c7 reviews I have heard. Having owned a c6 and been in dozens of c5's, there is no comparison. C7's quality is light years ahead of all previous generations especially in the interior department. I know you c5 rubber master door/ window switch spells quality all over it. Last time I checked hyundai did not have electronic door openers.

Have a c7 and love it. Its on par if not nicer than my cts-v coupe interior, oh yeah that car has electronic latches too, maybe i should replace both cars with a Tiberon and Sonata.

Must be a slow day over on the Hundai forums :willy: :willy:

Only reason he was there looking as his Hundoie broke down.

ersin 01-28-2014 05:51 PM

Paddles and switches are plastic. But this is an opportunity for aftermarket vendors. ;)

It seems to me that the C7 cabin may not be the best place for big folks. Perhaps you would fit better in a Hyundai.

Cheers.

FYI I don't own a HUNDAI or any foreign car just using it to imply CHINTZY

If you want to ignore cheezy and cheaply designed features go for it.
I just pointed out several deficiencies in the CAR OF THE YEAR.
If this gets your goat and you are sold on glitz thats fine with the dealerships that are charging 5 to 10 K over list price.
If professional reviewers are blind and lack tactile ability then this might be the car for them. I used the term Hundai to imply something that is overpriced and not first quality. If you bought your C7 sight unseen and are trying to rationalize your decision I have sympathy with you. Just look at the top of this section to see all the DEFECTS found by owners of C7s, right now its 48 pages and counting. Maybe the 2015 version will address the major defects but as far as I am concerned I wouldn't take a C7 now if you paid me.

And your C5 is so much better? I've owned C5's, C6's and will soon have my C7. Each generation was better than the previous.

WTF is a Hundai, is it anything like a Hyundai?

cattman 01-28-2014 06:22 PM

1. I completely disagree with your review of the interior.
2. FWIW, Hyundai makes really solid cars these days. I had a Sonata rental recently and found it to be quite nice, peppy, feature-rich, etc. Just my opinion of course, but I've been impressed with what Hyundai has done lately.

dont feed the trolls....more multipage no content coming up.....

Waytofastvette2006 01-28-2014 06:24 PM

I love love love love the steering wheel smallness. Actually I believe that has got to be my favorite change. No more bus driving !

I'm sorry you don't like the c7. I didn't want to like it either since I actually believe GM should have went through a traditional bankruptcy. But then I sat in one and placed my order.

It's one sexy beast probably one of the nicest cars I will ever have the fortune of owning.

Yes, the OP's opinion of Hyundai is as old as his C5. He needs to update both.

Oh man...a C5 owner calling out his perceived "defects" on a C7. This site gives me a good laugh once in a while for sure!
