Driveshaft u-joints-best brand and quality '93 6speed

The drive shaft will be out for my engine swap and thought I should replace the universals also. The car has 100,000 miles and not sure if they are the originals. What recommendations for them as for quality and brand/manufacture. Should they be a sealed type or get them with a grease zerk? Are any made in US or will I have to settle for china made? Any part numbers? 1993 6 speed. Thanks.

The decision is yours. Here's all of the information regarding the correct Spicers.

5-1310X OR 5-3613X would be the choices for the drive-shaft.

If you have 100K on the u-joints you should go ahead and change the half shaft u-joints at the same time. those wear out more than the prop shaft u-joints.

I just changed out the u-joints on the half shafts of mine this last month. The car has 78K on the odometer. The U-joints in there were Spicers and not original, they were full of rust and some of the needle bearings had virtually disintegrated.
I used Moog's non-greasable replacements and they have a lifetime warranty for what it's worth.

Who's life...yours or the U-joints?

Thanks for all the info and appreciate the part numbers. So I need to go with the coated u joints 5-3613x for the drive shaft and 5-3615x for the coated half shafts. I probably should use new bolts and retainers too!

New straps and bolts aren't required. Just a good clean-up with a wire brush should do. The drive shaft to pinion flange are SAE and the half-shaft to differential and also the spindle are metric. Don't mix them and make sure if you want new you get the appropriate ones. If you want new mention that and I'll give you the information.

Yes WVZR1, if you have that info I would appreciate it. Thanks.

2-70-18X should get you the strap and bolts for the drive shaft. 2 straps and 4 bolts per package. 3-70-48X would do 2 straps and 4 bolts for the half-shafts, for all new you would need 4.

You can do bolts only or straps also only I believe. This is not where I buy but they're good people. You could use them for bolts, straps or packages.

Use either of the numbers that I gave you for a search option.

I would replace the half shaft joints before I even thought about drive shaft. But that's me

These are the metric ones?
Are these Spicer part numbers too?

Yes 4 of that part #

Found a Fleet Pride in Lansing, about 18 miles away that carry Spicer parts. Maybe a little more expensive than online. Maybe they will give me my farm discount! Will get the two drive shaft u-joints and strap kits, and four u-joints and four strap kits for the half shafts. Will ask about French lock to use instead of lock washers as mentioned in other forum posting. Replacing all this will give me peace of mind to take a longer trip once I get the engine in.
