Strange looking air horn, I wonder what the application was?

Didnt notice the tubes. All that bling just does not work for me. Just thought it was interesting so I put it up here. Never know.

Looks too nice to install in a car, I will make a one-time exception though.

Holy Polishing!

USAZR1 06-19-2014 06:05 PM

A small fortune was spent on polishing that LT5,I bet. If that engine is solid, that would be a decent deal for around $10K. I'm assuming those headers would fit our cars, though.

I'd like to know how many hours that took. Thats a lot of work to do and then just change your mind. :willy:

He mentions "Packard"

I would think the air-horn and the inverted coolant tubes were part of "the plan" for the original project. It certainly is pretty.

I don't think I'd assume that the headers would be a C4 fit either without a serious conversation.

It's also strange that a fellow with what appears to be maybe obvious talent or knows maybe the right people couldn't find out the AT flywheel isn't actually all that complicated. He mentions buying "at auction" so it's hard to tell if the headers were maybe part of the buy or if built by the now current seller.

The Craiglist ad says that he wanted to stuff it into a Packard street rod but he didn't because he couldn't find a flex plate for an automatic transmission.
He is technically correct, but completely wrong at the same time.
There are no commercially available auto flex plates for for a LT5.
It is possible to modify a small block flex plate to fit a LT5, as evidenced by the handful of ZR1 guys who have put autos in their ZR1s.
Personally, I think his story is weak.:toetap::toetap:
My bet is that he bought it on a whim thinking he was going to turn it quickly for big bucks.

I do like the polishing job.
That motor looks fantastic on the engine stand.
Wouldn't mind having it in my family room (wifey would probably object to it though).
