DIY with Pics.. Fix your door handle that won't open in minutes

I just bought my z06 and was having an issue with my door not opening when I press the button. I had to press it several times before that contacts would recognize and open my door. I read a couple of threads about how people fixed it but didn't see any pictures. I went ahead and fixed it within 5 minutes on each door. I took pictures for the next person as well. Hope this helps!

Good post. Just a side note, if they are beyond repair, they are around 14 bucks for a new one.

Thanks for taking the time to post this excellent fix.

Bought new buttons years ago when mine started acting up. Never put them on because cleaning contacts fixed it.

So good advice to clean and save a few bucks.

Appreciate the advice - step by step instructions

Very visual and helpful. Thanks for your effort. There have been many post and photos in the past but your post is the best I've seen.

say thanks to my fiance.. she kept b**ching about having a hard time opening the door so I had to fix it :)

nice....thanks for sharing.
the hatch button is a little different as it has a plunger that gets gunked up with dirt and sand. I removed it and cleaned it last sunday and it now opens every time I touch it. guess i'll do the doors now. :D

Thanks, that is what this forum is all about. Mine is fine, but if and when it acts up. I know what to do.

Yea.....STICKY TIME!!!

VIPNiSS 06-24-2014 09:01 PM

no problem anytime. I have always done DIY for all my previous cars and just like helping others out. I wish there was a DIY on how to change a starter cause I think mines on the way out
