Last 2014 Off the line...135523

All,

I was fortunate this week to take delivery of the raffled Blade Silver Z51 Vert. What a blessing that was. That is not the point of this thread so let me get to it...

While taking the delivery tour of the factory I had the pleasure of seeing the first 2015 (white) on the line. No shocker, Vin 000001. That was fun, but more interesting is to find out that the last 2014 (also white) right in front of it was VIN 135523, so I believe that means that they modified (ever so slightly or something) the 14s at some point in the year and the final tally of how many 2014 were made is 35,523...

For those that are counting...:rock:

What day was this?

If the very last 2014 was literally right in front of the very first 2015, then I am assuming no major retooling was necessary...

There are 1,050 Premiere Editions you can add to the total.

35523 + 1050 Premier editions (different 12th digit) + unknown number of captured test fleet, internal builds for execs, custom VIN number option, etc. that also use a different 12th number. Another post here said they heard over 40000 total 2014's were built.

What about "pick your own VIN" special orders, did they have to be below the 35,523 + the 1050? Just asking, I am kind of curious, think the 2014 were a blowout.

Damn, I got close... I have # 35364 in transit to me.

Prob all of 2 Selectable VINs were sold, they prob both went to Saudi. LOL

Curious as to how many of those options were sold.

No. One went to Tony Kanaan.

However many were actually produced, 2014 was certainly a very good year for the Corvette.

Just wanted to say Congratulations. Enjoy the new Ride...

Daveguy68,
Congrats, Some will spend 6 or 7 years paying for their C7 and you get one for a couple hundred dollars ( plus tax of of course ). Very blessed.
Are you going to keep it or sell for the money?
A win either way.

Congrats, you are one lucky guy, enjoy your new ride!

Congrats on your new ride. You will love it and you'll find out that it's a "head turner". Be interesting to know how Corvette production compared to it's competition like Porsche, Jaguar, Viper, etc. :hide:

Gr8ful,

Yes, I do realize how blessed I am. I have wanted a Corvette for many years, but was not able. I am finally to a point in my life that I can just afford it. I was planning on getting a 2015 in March, and taking my wife on the buyers tour, and my brother, his son and my son on the R8C delivery. I am very humbled to be able to finally own my dream car, but it was no the same without them to share the experience. So I may trade it in on that 2015, not becuase this is not the prefect car, but because I want them to enjoy that experience... I hope you (and others) understand. The 2015 will most likely be my last due to finances.

BTW, on a personal note, This experience taugh me much about myself and the trip was more life changing than the car... Looking forward to the next trip which will be about my family, and the car will be a bonus.

I hope not to have offended anyone with my choice...

Very Thankful,
Doc

P.S. I stopped for anyone who wanted a picture, and took a few as well on the 950 mile trek home...and yes I waved, ALOT!!!

Corvette ED 08-11-2014 06:44 PM

What dealer got the last 2014?

Gr8ful 08-11-2014 11:30 PM

Nice Doc.
Are you getting a Blade Silver 15? I can not perceive of anyone being offended, envious maybe but its cool anyway. Thanks for sharing your love for your family and the Corvette.
