Just out of curiosity, how much does this cost to have done?

z51vett 08-13-2014 10:05 AM

What keeps the water out of the engine compartment?

Any moisture which enters, will run off the carbon fiber shields which surround the supercharger.

Some Questions;
-This modification looks like you get Z06 type specs using a standard C7 Vette?
-Do you buy the base Vette and modify it, or would I buy one and send it to you for modification? Does it have to be a new vehicle or could I send you one with miles on it?
-Does it need to be a Z51 Vette?
-If there was a warranty claim, would the Vette have to be transported to one of your shops in CA or CN?

Thank you for your questions -
  • You can buy the base Corvette and send it however, 98% of the cars we build, come from our Callaway Authorized Dealers who are hand picked for their higher-than-normal level of service. They have the allocation, pricing, and great service to ensure your experience is top-notch.
  • If not a brand new vehicle, the Callaway Powertrain Warranty is still the same as your GM date/mileage, based upon their input system (VIS)
  • It does not need to be a Z51 optioned car, but 95% have been.
  • If there is a warranty claim, we work with your local dealer, or the regional Callaway dealer who has been trained on our product. Most GM dealers are competent and capable of managing any issue which arise. There is no need to ship back to our facility, which is a HUGE advantage.
Also, your GM Powertrain Warranty remains in full effect, covering any item attributed to a GM matter. Nobody else can honestly say that but us.

If we can help with any other questions, please let me know here, or via email: info@callawaycars.com

Thank you

Regarding the in-tact GM Powertrain Warranty --- is that a deal worked out between Callaway and GM? Do they acknowledge you guys so highly that they keep the GM warranty in effect even after all the work Callaway does on the vehicle?

Thanks!

Jeebus Chris. That new supercharger coming out of the hood makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up..........or maybe it's because I'm watching Shark Week........
Either way, it looks great.

My question, and this is totally my opinion, is there any way to fit a front mount intercooler with this supercharger so that you don't have to have a cutout in the hood. My personal take on that design is hideous since it is just kinda there, and screams 70's muscle car and not 2014 supercar.

I love the work Callaway does but this particular look does nothing for me. But if there was a way to get the performance this car has without the penalty to the looks...or even a higher hood to fit it under would be acceptable.

In a word, Yes.

GM knows all the vehicles we build, thus there is no confusion. I hope this helps.

Check out the way we made the spine on the Stingray (emblem) stand up... It's a mini version of our supercharger.

Unfortunately, the superchargers which fit under the hood are severely limited by their very design of being quenched in that area of real estate. We make no compromises, period.

From an efficiency standpoint, the inlet air temp change is under 10 deg. variance. This is a HUGE benefit, and heat soak simply does not exist. Run after run, you can rest your hand on the cool supercharger. Try that on others, and you will run away scramming for ice :willy:

Additionally, by going through the hood, we were able to make our inlet runners MUCH longer, therefore building more toque than ever before :flag:

I hope this helps, and with our technical reasoning, perhaps you will change your mind
