how anal are you about your vette being correct?

my 97 came with some great bolt on mods which I really like and have no plans on changing, but I was cleaning the wheels and noticed one of the valve stem caps was black instead of gray, oh THE PAIN!!!

Mr.Bill 08-25-2014 10:38 PM

When it comes to my Vette as far as repairs go I am very anal, It has to be fixed right away and fixed correct, That includes TPMS, I have seen where some say I just hit the reset button, Well my Vette deserves better than that, I am happy to say that everything on my Vette works as it should.

I'm ashamed to admit this, but I once superglued one the little rubber tabs back on the back of a floor mat back in the day...:willy:

Very anal about that kind of stuff. Everything has to be modded, tasteful, proper, matching, etc...

SaxyVette 08-25-2014 11:13 PM

sometimes too anal is no fun..but man your valve caps don't match..hopeless !!

stu12dozen 08-25-2014 11:25 PM

My front two valve caps are alike and the two in the rear are alike, although the two sets do not match, but at least all four are chrome. As long as I keep moving, nobody will notice. :hide:

Perhaps if I place one matching pair on the drivers side and the other pair on the passenger side, hmmm?

You need to turn in your Vette card.

Maybe put the matching caps all on one side. No one can see both sides at the same time, but they can see the front and rear at the same time. Just sayin'

One of the connections to the rear defroster is broken on my Z06. I have never used it, but just knowing it is broken drives me bonkers. Can it be fixed without replacing the rear window? I just had the front bumper repainted because of a couple of scratches (my fault). I guess I am a bit anal. But all of my valve caps match. :D

Now you've got me so upset, I am going to the auto parts first thing in the morning and purchasing new valve caps!

Vetteman Jack 08-26-2014 12:14 AM

I don't have a problem modding the car to my tastes, but I do have all the stock parts to where if I ever sell it I can put it back to original condition.

RockyMtC5 08-26-2014 12:28 AM

Lol, I am OCD about my corvette too! It certainly has some imperfections but overall it's beautiful!

sbadd99 08-26-2014 01:03 AM

Nothing wrong with mods. Corvettes are meant to be personalised. I believe the OP is talking about correct and not necessarily factory correct.

My car is at the tuners as we speak. I am adding headers, HF Cats and X-pipe to my Borla exhaust. My final instructions to the installer as I drove away were, "please make sure the exhaust tips are level when you finish. Otherwise, I will not be able to sleep at night".

I'm stumbling around here at Midnight tryin' to find my Q-Tips so I can clean my Car..Damn owning a 'Vette can be treacherous..!!

"No pain, no gain"!

I'm very anal about my car. Unfortunately, I'm anal about everything including ours cars, home, lawn, etc., etc. My wife constantly reminds me that I have OCD. Anything a little out of whack drives me crazy. :ack:

It's medical name is called OCD otherwise known as obsessive compulsive disorder ..... Isn't it great! Means we always have perfect mint cars... What really sucks is when you find something, you're out and can't do something about it til you get home!

Toque 08-26-2014 08:24 AM

I'm not so worried about keeping it "original".

I do however try to be very tasteful with mods.

Its modified... but does not "SCREAM OUT LOUD" that its modified... :D

I used to be more OCD than I am now. I still like things neat, orderly, and working but age has a way of allowing you to accept a few inperfections.
