dealer to me that there is a cooling fan on the left rear that makes a noise when it comes on.if you take the rear end off you will see a cooling fan to cool transmission. he said that is what the noise that I am hearing. now is there a fuel pump in the rear that will make a noise and when would it come on?

Bruce and Highplains,

YES !!!! The sound near the end of the video clip provided by Glenn E is EXACTLY what I'm hearing.

A8 Trans. 2016 Built Jan 26, 2016. Mag ride; NPP.

As we've already discussed many times:

Only heard when light acceleration
Best heard when going up a slight hill
Usually at 1200 to 1500 rpm
any gear, any mode, any exhaust setting, V4 or V8 mode makes no diff.
take my foot off the gas, and the noise goes away.
:iagree: Same as me. Mine built in October 2015.

I get NO jerking at any speed, or rpm. When going from V4 to V8 or back again is totally smooth. No issues there.

I heard this on day 1 driving home from dealer at about 40 miles.

Since I'm not a FB member, please pass my comments along to the FB folks.

thanks,

Richard

I am sure your dealer knows more than I do so if he says there is a fan in the rear end section to cool the tranny then go with that. I would want to see a schematic of that. Look in your owners manual where it tells about the different fuses that power the electrical components and see it you see a fuse that powers that fan. Another option is to generate a post asking the forum guys if there is a fan in the rear end. The fuel tanks are in the rear section of the car and the fuel pump can be heard and if the pump is bad it could make a louder noise than normal.

Did some more looking and your dealer is correct, if u have an automatic there is a small heat exchanger and small fan to cool the tranny. Get n a dark shop and shine a light in the long black mesh cover on the left side of bumper and u can see it. Kinda hard to see but mine has it, 2016 stingray automatic. Don't think the base m7 have it but the z51 and z06 ragtop should. The fan may be your noise. Hope this helps

The sound in the video clip is exactly the same as mine.

Are you a 2016, or a 2015? A8 trans ? NPP Exhaust?

Do you know the date of manufacture of your car? Or at a minimum, what month does the door sticker say your car was built?

Thanks

No I need to look, purchased in Mar of 15 new. Ill look when I get home. Car is a 2015 NON NPP

I have the same exact issue my car now has 11000 miles, they replaced the transmission at 5k back in sep 0f 2015 thinking that was the issue. Didn't fix it, we drove a brand new 15 they had on the lot and it did the same thing.

bjones7131 08-03-2016 04:31 PM

I just sent this vidio link to chevy customer support and asked that they send to GM eng to hopefully aid in getting GM to do a fix. I am wondering if anyone has a C7 15 or 16 stingray that doesn't have this sound. Surely they aren't all having this problem but who knows. I don't think the Z06 guys have this problem. Lets keep taking our cars into our dealers and demanding a fix, the more noise we make the better chance we have of getting it fixed. Thanks for the video and persistance guys.

Strake 08-03-2016 04:35 PM

Which video did you send Chevy Customer Service? The one from Glenn, or the one I posted?

We should send BOTH videos.

Car is new, less than 200 miles and at times i hear a warble sound, not sure if its tires road noise or what. Seems to make the sound when accelerating mildly after up to speed. Any thoughts or is this normal tire road noise. Thanks

I have a `15 Z06 with side skirts and hear a sound at higher speeds that seems to be coming from the rear drivers side.
It sounds like a vibration or pump running occasionally...intermittent.
Not at low speeds.
I think it is the side skirt vibrating at speed from the air pressure. The skirt seems tight when I grab it however.

"Warble" noise heard on 2016 Corvette C7 A8 Trans. NPP Exhaust. Most noticeable at the 35 to 40 second mark, 1:09 to 1:18 min and 1:42 to 1:50 minute mark, and 2:35 to 2:42 minute. Can also be heard less noticeably through out when going up hill. Most always at 1500 rpm, regardless of V4 or V8 mode, or any other mode settings. Light pressure on the gas pedal.

Here's the link to YouTube for the 3 minute video.

Please let me know if this is what YOU guys are also hearing......

I do not have this problem with my car (yet at 4,600 mi). I'm not an automotive engineer or mechanic, but if that noise is not coming from a rotating mass that is out of balance or loose, I'll be very surprised.

That is the EXACT noise I have provided the dealer with recordings of from my PDR IDENTICAL. I have several of them. I mean IDENTICAL noise.

I hope your dealer can get something out of GM with the videos. My dealer has ridden in my car and states that the noise is clearly there and then took me for a ride in one of the dealership cars that displayed the same noise. But that's all that's happened. I think that this is just a big hurry up and wait for GM to take some sort of action. The dealers will do nothing until GM tells them what to do, if anything. In the meantime, the idea of a rotating mass loose or out of balance is what has me worried.

Personally I believe this warble is in the exhaust. There is also a noise at 1000 rpm that occurs when the a8 keeps it in 3rd gear when I'm crawling in traffic. It's easily recreated by applying brake and gas in 1-2-3 gears and keeping rpm at 1000. Two different sounds.

Engines and transmissions are assembled and installed with exacting torque specs. The parts are exacting as well. I can understand these components making the noise at the same RPM across hundreds of cars. Exhaust components, on the other hand consist of pipes, mufflers, baffles, sheet metal, etc. which certainly are capable of making odd noises but I just can't see them making identical noises at the same exact RPMs across so many vehicles. I'd far rather find out it's in the exhaust but the thought of a torque tube or flywheel out of balance and wobbling away through the drive line to the engine bearings and seals gives me the willies.
