Having my son take our C2 for a first drive on the track is priceless!

It will get your heart pumping - at any age!

Too big

My son would love to drive my 66 or 68 coupes. He is 5' 18" and can't fit in them. With a size 15 shoe, he just mashes two pedals at a time. We built a Chevelle for him instead. I remember reading that Donny Brass's son also races with his dad. Jerry

My Grandson don't know it yet and will not know till the last minute but I am going to flip him the key to my 67 Corvette Coupe at Bloomington Gold to take it around the track. I know he will have a smile on his face from ear to ear. I think he will be in shock a little bit till he realizes I am not kidding. :yesnod:
Downdraft I am sure your son had a smile on his face from ear to ear as well.

I agree. My son drove mine at Pikes Peak International Raceway in 2003 and was 22 at the time.

Let my son-in-law whip my stock '61 around Sebring with the daughter riding shotgun in 2009. I thought he'd faint when I threw him the keys.

I met one of his friends a few years later and his first remark to me was, "....you're the guy that let David drive your '61 around Sebring"..

Apparently he bragged about the experience everywhere - well worth the temporary worry IMO!

When I first finished the restoration on my 67, my wife was worried about driving it. I decided to take her to Laguna Seca on an off weekend and let her do a few slow laps to get comfortable. Everything was fine until we hit the top of the corkscrew. Then her eyes got really big and she said something about this being the fun section. The next thing I knew she stomped on it and we were off to the races. That was years ago and I still have dreams about that day.

My son and my self went to Milan Dragway in 2009 for a Masterwork's Shop day at the track. After making a couple passes I gave him the keys and told him to beat me, he didn't but I think he was afraid of breaking something. Great father/son bonding day.
