How to manually open and close headlights on a 1964 stingray??!
 

The motors for my headlights are shot and the cars been sitting for years. I got it running and driving and just have the headlights opened at all times. Just wondering how to close them?

Feel your hands up under the front end where the motors are. You will find a thumb wheel for each motor. Start turning. Your be there for a while. Also it's clearly shown in your owners manual

Got it! Thanks man. Also, what is your opinion of using motor medic lead substitute for a fuel treatment? I've seen mixed reviews. The 64 I have sat for about ten years without being started. It runs perfectly now and I only use premium fuel

Don't fall into the trap of thinking these motors need a lot of 'special' goo and hopped up gas to run well. Literally, the only requirement is to use an oil with the right amount of ZDDP - that's it...

The headlight motors are an easy, pleasant Saturday morning rebuild with the right parts!!!

When they tell you to turn those thumb wheels, get ready to turn them, and turn them, and turn them. You may think the lights aren't moving, but, they do, slowly. So slowly you'll think it isn't working, but, just keep at it. :thumbs:

Yup...the thumbwheels are tedious and kind of useless....if you have to crank the headlight buckets open by hand some night; it'll be daylight by the time you're done...
