Enginepower TV

Sorry if this is a dup, did a search and didn't see anything.

Was watching Enginepower today on Spike, they are putting a Trick Flow kit on a 2007 C6 Corvette, called Atomic blast.

They did a before baseline and the car put down ~370 hp and 360 something in torque, might be off as I'm relying on memory. Car was a 6 speed and the did the pull in 4th gear.

They are putting on some type of Trick flow kit, it's heads, Cam, MSD Intake, and somebody's shorty headers to keep the whole thing 50 state legal. It's pretty cool as I was just thinking about something like this, except with a Z06 exhaust to pass the visual here in CA.

They took the car apart and showed all the steps to get the block stripped, cleaned it up and bolted on the heads, cam, intake and shorties. Next week they are doing brakes, wheels, suspension and then a tune and dyno results.

Unless I am missing something....you tell us what the baseline run was, but not the "after" run??????

If the 370 was the before, the car has already been tuned, or had some work done.

I must have missed something....

I watched it this morning and they had not finished it up yet... Probably will next Sunday morning...

If you saw it, did I get the numbers right?

Seemed kinda high, but they said it was stock.

Jeffs82c3 03-06-2017 08:49 AM

367 hp, 372 tq. Engine stock was rated at 400hp at the flywheel...

Saw it too. I just thought it was a generous dyno. It was cool if you have never done a head and cam swap on a C6.

Don't know about the heads/cam, but did MSD get their CARB EO#? Heard they may be working on it, but currently FAST is the only intake I'm aware of with an EO#.

Well they got 440 hp out of Heads, cam, rockers, shorty headers, cat back system. Gain of ~70 RWHP.

I was kinda unimpressed, I mean 70 RWHP is nothing to sneeze at, but it seems like they spent 3/4 of what an Edelbrock SC would cost and got half the HP gain.

What did you guys think?

GS_DAN 03-20-2017 06:15 PM

Shorty headers and cats probably robbing it of another 20rwhp

Here are my results.

I think it's prettty bad but like someone said below the shorty headers are killing it. Not to mention the msd is a pretty bad choice on a cathedral motor unless you're spinning 71-7500 rpm. It's no where near as good as the ls7 one so a fast probably would have made more

Besides all that these builds on tv almost always underperform mostly bc the builds are sponsored by a company. They're certainly not tailored to make the most hp

But yes in general you can always make more hp with boost dollar/dollar but then again you're looking at 2 different situations

Exactly

badazz81z28 03-21-2017 08:49 AM

It was an ls2

redbird555 03-21-2017 08:59 AM

Stilll not that great for an ls2. They would have done way better with a fast and lt headers
