couple of questions on wheels/ tires

I'm thinking of doing the zr1 style wheel/tire thing over the winter. Right now I have 275/40/17s on standard 1991 9.5 inch sawblades. (1) Should I go with 11 inch on the back? Will they fit okay? Will the same 275/40 tires on the front 9.5s fit the 11s in back or are we talking two different tires? Any discussion on this subject is appreciated as always. Thanks! :yesnod:

275's on 11" wheels is not a very good fit...i would recommend at least 305 out back....but might as well go with 315s

will 11s fit in back okay without any modifications? Does anyone out there have this combination on a standard coupe?

Howdy,
I have that combo on my 89 coupe.
275 front, 315 back.

You will really need to run the larger tire in the rear. the 275 will fit, but A: it'll look bad, B: the sidewall will not be square, and thus unable to do its job properly. C: handling will degrade.

My car (see sig) is stock ride height and I have never rubbed with the 315s, and I have the "soft ride" suspension, so baby rolls a bit.

what tires you want to buy and what conditions you drive in are the biggest thing to consider. make sure the tires you want are made in a 315, also if you live in a really really rainy climate you might like the 275 more. for the most part a 11" rim and 315 upgrade is a good idea, just do some homework on tire cost and think about how and where you drive first.
