Tire sensor lifespan?
Anyone know the average lifespan of a tire sensor monitor before the battery wears out?

Re: Tire sensor lifespan? (TOPGUN9)
The 97-00 units are starting to fail a little more regularly now. 5-7 years on (more or less) a watch battery isn't bad... just sucks to change them... along with the expense
We normally carry replacements in stock. Give us a call if you need one :) [Modified by Bill Reid, 9:54 PM 8/9/2003] |

Re: Tire sensor lifespan? (TOPGUN9)
8 to 10 years. Of course individual driving conditions may affect that (probably downward) their life to 6 to 8 years.

I don't know.. my experience is alot worse than that posted..
On my 99 coupe, I had two replaced before I dumped it. On my 00 coupe, I had two replaced before I dumped it. On my 02 coupe, I just had my first replaced.. |

these early failures , were they from the rear tires where you spin them up more?

Re: Tire sensor lifespan? (TOPGUN9)
The sensors switch themselves off if not in use so I think their life span is mileage based instead of time based.
I have 67K miles on my '99 and so far I had to replace the RF sensor. It just started giving a reading above 55Mph. All others are still original and working fine. Roger |
