No emissions testing in Mississippi......hell, some places here don't check the stuff that they are SUPPOSED to, i.e: headlights, blinkers, horn, brake lights.

No stinkin emissions
No stinkin' car inspections. Drive whatchu brung.
No stinkin' front plate
No stinkin' income tax
Hasn't been that long ago that there was No stinkin' Insurance required. But that changed. Funny though. My insurance costs the same. Hmmm
Great Corvette roads here in the Smokey Mountains.
But do it quick cause the bureaucrats in Nashville are determined to make our fine state more "sophisticated" by giving its fair citizens more taxes and regulations by which to live.

Too late! Davidson (Nashville) and Williamson (Franklin/Brentwood) counties already have emission testing.

In Houston Texas they just plug into the car and ask it if it's running correct. If you program your computer it will tell their computer your car is legal. My car has no cats and stinks of racing fuel the whole time it is running and I have no problem getting inspected.

If there any any Vette I'd like to see in person, it's this one!!
As for NO EMISSIONS, I suggest register in a State closest to you, like Arizona. No front plate law, and no stupid stickers on your windshield either.

Wow!!!!
You guys really gave me a ton off feedback. So many states to CHOOSE from. Now What States do not require me to DRIVE or TRUCK all 4 cars down from CA to the DMV there???? I PREFER to find a state which will allow just the fees, VIN verifyer and get plates and tags. Make it a lot easier than shipping each car for 1,000 dollars. I think you guys get the picture.

It's just like being the owner/employee of your own corporation. You just have to remember which hat you have on at the moment. Are you the employee that will have to talk to your boss about that first or are you the boss who will fire that employee if that is true or are you just a stockholder who has no input on the matter? I live in Illinois on Jan. 1 and quite often during the year but I'm in Alabama today and have been for a while. Simple.
Registering is more than just fees and tags. You are changing the title. You are going to have to make a personal appearance in a DMV. Whether the vehicle has to appear or not varies. Alabama requires no testing but the DMV person will want to walk out to the parking lot to verify the VIN and mileage. I believe Illinois is the same as far as wanting to verify the VIN except I once went directly to the Secretary of State office in Springfield and they were just rubber stampers. Maybe you could call the various states to see what their policy is but that is going to attract some attention which is not what you want. Next you really need a matching driver's license when the cop stops you. If your licenses don't match you are going to be in trouble for not registering where you "live". Your mail can be forwarded for up to 12 months before you have to stop for I believe 30 days. Forwarding, however, tells the PO that you don't really live there which gets back to the issue that all states require vehicle registration in the state where you "live". I just have it delivered to a neighbor who holds it and my sister has it delivered to her daughter. Yes, you have to have a real street address and not just a PO Box for the title, registration, and license although I do have a PO Box as the mailing address for renewals. You might want to consult a lawyer in the state you are going to buy this house before committing yourself.

I own a lot of sportscars here is CA and tired of smogging em every few months. Takes the fun out of owning and modding my cars. I am looking to register them in another state. WHich ones are favorable for this and hopefully not too far from CA. Any tips or help would be great. I am thinking of buying a small home out of state and register it there all in one day. Sick of it!!!!!

This is what I thought also...rural counties in Calif that have no smog problem have no smog testing required. Get an address in Mammoth Lakes....
From the DMV website:
Which counties require a smog inspection for the registration renewal?
Counties that Require a Smog Inspection for Vehicle Registration Renewal Alameda Butte Colusa Contra Costa Fresno
Glenn Kern Kings Los Angeles Madera
Marin Merced Monterey Napa Nevada
Orange Sacramento San Benito San Francisco San Joaquin
San Luis Obispo San Mateo Santa Barbara Santa Clara Santa Cruz
Shasta Solano Stanislaus Sutter Tehama
Tulare Ventura Yolo Yuba
There are six counties that require smog certifications within certain Zip Codes only. These counties are:
El Dorado, Placer, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Sonoma

There are places in CA that do not have emission testing, like Truckee. I know a guy that has a house in Lake county, Clearlake I think, and he says you only have to do emission upon moving there.
Just a thought...

Just smog tested my 2008 last May. Shop owner said 1/1/15 in CA: no more tailpipe sniffer after 1st of the year, it's going to be OBDII port plug check for codes & visual inspection only; HOWEVER the visual inspection part will be more "thorough" he said. Haven't confirmed on the interwebz yet...

Didnt know Eureka, Mammoth Lakes and Truckee in CA had a way out of no smog testing. You guys sure about this? A simple move is all it would take? Sounds like out of state will take a visual inspection at DMV in all states....Tell me if I am wrong but makes sense. Will require a home purchase or condo. I am ok with that and rent it out!!!! Decisions..... Closest state mentioned to CA was New Mexico. I thought there got testing... Florida, Kansas and Oklahoma seemed pretty good also on top of Louisiana.
