C6 Owners - List Your Problems

Second owner of an 06 vert. Had it for two years and put 17,000 miles on it. Had 53,000 when I got it, just turned over 70,000! The original owner treated it like I do and I have copies of all service orders since delivered in 06. Except for NAV and a power top I think it has all other options. No problems whatsoever. Only complaint is the heat from the driveline tunnel from the dash to the trunk. GM should be ashamed for not properly insulating it....and, should pay to have it done right.

Melting Slicks
Looking over the later postings in this thread, the C6 does not appear to have nearly as many common problems as the C5. I have a C5 with 95K miles, 50K being mine, and it has a lot of not major but annoying problems that affect most C5's. On the C5, column lock, oil pressure sensor and dim HVAC display affected most cars. Our C6 has only 20K miles but no problems to date and I saw no evidence of universal problems in this thread. The most common problem is probably the inability of the owner to get the smile off his face.
You got that one right!

Not enough time to spend driving it and not enough money for my Corvette hobby.
The only issue that I've had is a gas cap that needed to be replaced, twice.

Steering Column Lock.. sometimes will not allow the car to start until I pull the fuse
HUD has quit working
Replaced headlight lens covers @ 45k miles
Right front rotor was warped. Replaced @ 45k miles
"Options" back-lighting bulb has burnt out.
Mostly minor stuff, although the steering column lock gets under my skin.

If the purpose of this thread is to make some kind of list (minor or major, for better or worse), some of the things I've read in posts here on CF are:
Clutch Pedal Stuck to Floor
Headlight Lens Crazing
Delaminating Roof Panel
Low Beam Headlight Failure
LS7 Valve Guides
Harmonic Balancer Wobble/Failure
I believe some of these issues have already been addressed through GM recalls.

My only complaint / problem is the Navigation system. Of all the “nav” systems in the world, why GM used this complicated / outdated system, I do not understand. It makes me, while I’m setting up the Google Map on my iPhone, say… “seriously”?

Check air bag light. I've had it since new and GM doesn't care. They know what the problem is and how to solve it but refuse to fix it. They claim it's doesn't require a recall. First time it came on was early 2005. I fix it with zip ties and it holds for a few weeks or more but always returns.

BCM had to be replaced due to failure.
GM mechanics and I use that word loosely don't know how to fix problems with this car. They had to call Detroit and only after two different dealerships and numerous mechanics gave it a shot. They first replaced the TCM (at my request) because they do not know how to troubleshoot this car.
wow 10 year old thread.

Being this thread is close to ten years old makes me want to participate in the histoty.
'07 with 17,500 miles that was bought with 1,600 miles on the odo.
Cruise control was iffey for awhile. Been doing better lately which is good 'cause they don't know how to fix the thing until it quits altogether.
Had to have the rear diff fluid changed while on a road trip.
Clamp holding the CAI to the intake broke.
It's been a great car with many smiles to the mile.

Bought mine a few months ago....OnStar was out, but they reprogramed the VCIM and it works fine now. 4LT leather dash ....glue is comeing loose an so it the leather around the defroster vent and HUD. Dealer had it glued back at local auto glass/interior place. Could replace dash, but when will it happen again if I do, and what kind of rattles etc can I expect from the replaced dash work....may just keep glueing it down.

I've had my '05 for about a month and have come across two problems.
Started it and the NAV said to insert the disc. Pulled the fuse under the passenger side carpet, waited about a minute and put the fuse back and everything is fine.
The second started at the dealership. They had it parked outside and kept having trouble starting it. No start. They replaced the battery and it started with no problem. From then until I picked it up they had it inside detailing it and no problem. A couple days after I picked it up I parked it outside after washing it and the no start problem returned. While checking under the hood I was able to rotate the negative cable at the post. Pushed it down and tightened the nut and it started. All was fine until I parked it outside again in the sun for an extended period. No start and when checked the negative cable was again able to be rotated on the post even though the nut was as tight as it could get. Crimpted the cable end sleeve and reattached it. No problem so far. Apparently the cable end sleeve reacts to heat more so than the post.
