NCRS Regional Meet in Marlborough Mass next week, what to expect?
Hi, there's a regional NCRS meet in Mass next week. Never attended one. What type of events are held? I know they judge cars, but what else will be there? swap meets? is there a calendar of events? cost to get in? etc.etc. thanks!

Hi JH,
The main activity at a regional event is Flight Judging.
There are also generally a few "Tech Sessions", which are classes led by and individual or two.
On Thursday the cars that are to be Flight Judged go through the Operations part of the judging and then are driven on the judging floor.
The four Flight Judging sections Interior, Exterior, Mechanical, and Chassis will be judged on the 68-69 cars on Friday, and the 70-72 cars will be judged on Saturday. I believe there are about 3 68-69 cars and about 8 70-72 cars to be judged.
There are also Judging seminars that are full days ( about 9:00 to 3:00) on Friday and Saturday.
There is generally a display of previously judged cars and other interesting cars to look at too.
To take part in any activities you must register for the event.
However, anyone can attend and just look at the cars on any day by just paying a small fee.
Since you've never attended an an event I'd think you'd find it quite interesting. You'll get a chance to see lot's of cars, and also see what the Flight Judging process is.
If you go to the NCRS web site you'll see a section for up coming events. There's a page for the Marlborough event and a schedule of what's going on.
Try to make it!
Regards,
Alan
There is usually very little if any swap parts at regional events except for the event in Florida in January of each year.
Here's a picture of the Judging floor at the Regonial Event in Wildwood N.J. in 2011.

I have gone up there the last few years and there were no vendors near the judging area. Might be some at the Hotel. The Nationals have a lot more going on.
In the meanwhile you can go here and click on Registration Form and/or Event schedule for some info. I found the operations check the most interesting. Think it cost me $10

Very nice.
Spoke to my friend who will be judging 61-62 interiors this week but if needed he can judge 70-72. You don't happen to have an M code? He wrote an article in the National Restorer and would be interested to have a look. Good luck.
PS. Looks like the NCRS Nationals will be in Warwick, RI in 2016. Will this be your next step?

In 2016 I'll be living in Dallas, too far of a commute to RI. Maybe Denver(?) in 2015 would be a bit more manageable, no A/C, 3.70's, 12mpg, lol.

As Alan has said, no swap meet, no vendors. Non-NCRS members cannot attend any of the tech seminars so you'd be restricted to looking at the cars on the judging field.

To find a group of **** retentive men and women escaping the trials and tribulations of life. Sharing the same passion about one of our American past times. Cars........... CORVETTES everywhere!

A building full of (almost) perfect Corvettes, what could be better?
Almost has me thinking about driving up for that...

Dam,
just picked up a very nice original condition 1973 corvette. Would love to drive it down but I just don't trust the 39 year old tires still on it! They look perfect no cracks or rot but don't know what's going on from the inside. I have taken it to some local shows near were I live without any problems just don't know running down the highway what the tires might do when they heat up doing 70-75 MPH. I plan on changing them soon. Also the original front bumper has cracks and will need to be replaced.

I wouldn't even let it sit in the garage on those tires. A blow out will take a fender with it.

Mike,
they had a recall on the original Firestone tires back in 1976. So the originals were replaced. Given the past history with Firestone tires they will be replaced. Bridgestone TA's like on my 75.

Old tires blowing out while sitting affects all brands, not just Firestone.

I wrestled with subject of replacing brand new looking Goodyear ST RWL tires when I got my car in 2011. They just looked so good on there and retro. I called Goodyear and that tire was from the 80's or early 90's. As much as I liked them I replaced them with brand new BFG rwl radials. That was based on forum advise against riding on old sneaks.
Glad I listened. Last thing I need is a crash.
