65 oil pressure line, bench install?
Has anyone installed their oil pressure line to the gauge cluster on the bench and then installed the cluster in the dash?
Thanks for your input.

Pretty tough to get that brass line out through the firewall that way. When I did my 65 dash I had the line in place through the firewall first and that was probably the last thing I connected after the dash was in place as you don't want to bent that brass line a lot, so just get it close then pull it gently into place and secure. It's not that hard to get to once the dash is in place.

Bad idea and won't really save much pain.

I bench installed mine. But.... The PO had cut the line and it has about 6" of line from the gauge, then a union and then to the engine block. When I removed the cluster I disconnected it at the union. Not original for sure but makes pulling the cluster easier. The next time the cluster comes out I will also put a connector in the cluster wiring. I'm not an original king of guy. I'm more of a ease of service kind of guy.

The 'hard' oil line was the least of the issues iin R&Ring the cluster (twice) in my '63. Hard to reach light bulb sockets, the ground wire WAY up high on the back of the cluster and a few other gotchas were a LOT more of a problem...
