Maybe just a trip up north! Wasn't that Ranger country and didn't Lininfelter get after it there!?

(Yep, Google and a memory ON THE COMPUTER!)
Umm... He was running in NJ so he would make a trip south to go to MIR. The air was very good and it looks like Atco had better traction than MIR did this past Sun.

Awsome pass. I would put some better info on the YT video though. There is a ton on people that would like to know the specifics with such a great time. I wouldnt give a **** about this LIST rules crap. The fact is your Z06 "stock" with drag wheels did what it did and thats that.

Maybe I missed it, but did the OP ask to be put on a "list" (even though as he pointed out there isn't one as of yet for the C7-Z)? I think it was everyone else who began the banter about a list...and then someone pointed out his run would not hold up under "the rules" of bone stock Corvettes...like is that even an NHRA class?

Personally, I too could care less about his tire change....WGAS. I've been known to run around and drive all over the place on my drag package...though I am more careful in my driving (not like I'm going "carving" through the mountain canyon roads ). In the end, what was/is under the hood remains bone stock...and that is VERY impressive.

But not some of the C6 haters!!

Although even they seem to be a little light on turnout in this thread. They usually avoid threads with anything positive and save their posts for the "problem" threads.

Nothing to do with the viper or c6! That's a FAST run period!!! If you decide to mod your car you have a great baseline to start with! If not your still driving a low 10 sec car that's stock!!! Congrats

Please point out which c6 "haters" have been saying anything negative about the run. The question of the front wheels was orginally asked by Snorman.

I hate to be that guy. But one of my pet peeves is confusing "quick" with "fast". Fast is a measurement of speed, most commonly used to indicate top speed.. hence the first question commonly asked about sportscar: "How fast will it go?". We all know that due to less downforce, the ZR1 will always be faster than the Z06.. after all the ZR1 has the fastest top speed of any showroom stock Corvette.

Quick on the other hand is a measurement of acceleration. So when referring to times recorded in the 1/4 mile, the measurement is quick. And I completely agree with what you were saying though. I'd just state it differently. If he puts the stock wheels back on and then goes 10.5x or better. Then he will have the QUICKEST showroom stock Corvette of all time!

Well, in all fairness to the C6-Z folks (you may call them "haters"), this is not an "apples to apples" comparison since the C6-Z could not be had in an automatic version.

"Maybe it was a 1000 foot track..."

Yeah, I can see the automatic transmission factored into that comment. /sarc off

Damn skippy. If we're going to be so picayune in our assessment of the OP's accomplishment (ie.-front wheels not "stock") then the difference of a car with a clutch verses one that is stab and go is not significant (albeit C7 verses C6)? Give me a break. I think we both know its conjecture, but I could point to countless posts within this thread that are full of equal conjecture.

I will say I am growing partial to "white" C7Z's with the A8. Now we know white is the fastest! thats a fact.
that will be in my santa christmas wish list.

A c6Z owner that says this is not an apples to apples comparison is not thinking logically.

B.S. needs to be cleared up. But, you get my point overall I think. Those guys have access to great air so all things being equal <10s from one of those great driving guys!

And excuse me I probably should stay off when I'm tired. But, I do think I had a valid overall point! Good Luck!

I consider Kyle Lemish a driver based on his results in a manual zr1 which I know you saw his thread since you posted in it. Besides the nannies, the gearing is more optimized in the 8-speed auto than the manual for greater average power getting to the ground so it shouldn't be a real surprise it is faster all around as the shifts are lightning quick and there's no place for the manual to gain ground(off the line or down track) with a tune I believe the gap could be closed with a great driver, but not sure the "machine" can be surpassed this time around.

You can run no TPMS and you'll be fine. I did that in December and even drove to and from the track on DR's without TPMS, and besides the warning light in the dash, there were no issues!

You guys have fun with your list fighting I'll be the one making the passes.
Nice runs!! Glad to see someone finally preload a little at the line with an automatic! Maybe try a little higher next time out and see what happens.

Don't go beating up on Ls1Lt1..He's actually a knowledgeable, great racer, a long time member and a VERY nice guy. He wasn't attacking you, as proven by his later posts.

Proper skinnies usually -0.1 in ET. Not detracting from your time mind you..And you are right, a 20 minute tire swap and a 10.38 is GREAT off the showroom floor....with better times to come I'd say!

He didn't say he wanted to be on any fast list, and as mentioned above, the way they've been set up is no category for only a 4 tire swap...but that is irrelevant in the OP's performance!

Ron
