Default While I'm fixing oil leak on the intake..

Fixing some oil leaks on my L98. Oil leaking from valve covers and intake. While doing this I have been doing quite a bit of research on what else to do while I'm in there. I know there are a bunch of threads on this but I didnt find exactly what I was looking for. First time doing this so I guess I'm looking for some clear cut answers.

While I have the intake off to fix the china wall leak do I upgrade my intake? Is it worth porting the pelum and runners? How much will it help performance?

Currently I'm pretty much stock. Car was running well, the oil leaks were just getting to much. In the future I'm looking to do exhaust, probably not much else. If I do an intake upgrade will it do me any good if I only change exhaust in the future? Will it effect my current situation if I don't do exhaust for a few years? I dont want to spend money where I dont need to.

If I do upgrade the intake what should I go to? Any other options that I havent thought of?

Look at your fpr and injectors.

Thanks, I'll check those two out.

I'm thinking for my plan porting the intake and the pelum and runners is the way to go versus buying a new intake.

I'd buy a new intake manifold with larger ports, and either port the runners/plenum myself or buy new runners and port the plenum. If you're buying one new, buy the manifold.

FPR is fine but I'd not replace injectors with anything larger, I would however have them checked out. Best to check that now while its all off.

Exactly how much it'll help is harder to say but I'd expect 20-30bhp if everything was ported out. 85's iron heads will limit your further gains.

Whats the best way to go on the intake? I've been looking and the LT1 intake modded seems the the most cost effective way to go. Looking to keep the price down.

LT1 is different enough that a retune of the chip would be necessary to get it right.

I'm not sure who all is still making TPI base manifolds except TPiS, but the LPE/Accel base is another that would be fine.

"While it's apart" is a good time to replace all of the vacuum lines.
