Latest Legendary Motor Car show
Anyone see this latest episode where a Canadian has a silver 1963 fuelie coupe for sale? Asking $150k - American. Peter told him he was "strong". Guess it was an older restoration, no paperwork, replaced front clip, and NOM. Peter looked at the numbers on the motor and promptly stated that it was probably not the original motor. Did he think it was a restamp? Who knows, but Legendary did buy the car for something over $100k ($115?) American. That's a heck of a drop in price.
Thoughts?

Its a heck of a drop in price if you believe a single thing is real on that show...
However a $25K-$35K difference between a REAL fuelie and a REAL non-fuelie split window is about right from all I've seen.
I don't know if "Peter" would know a restamp from Shinola. He may have spotted other 'clues' that the car was an NOM piece however. That show seems to be more about brass era cars and 40s/50s lead sleds than anything else...

I used to like that show, back when they showed some restoration techniques. Now it seems to be all about making the deals.
And, while his son might be a nice enough kid, I don't really think he adds anything to the show. I don't watch it anymore.

I'm watching "Sergeant Preston of the Yukon" in the garage right now off my "over-the-air" $40 antenna.
Just as realistic as the TV car shows, and, better acting - that includes the dog...

I talked to Peter last year about a deal that included the trade of my '69 towards a beautiful Pantera he had. I found him to be very pleasant, respectful and knowledgeable about the model Corvette I had. We basically landed on the same dollar value of my car, but I didn't pull the trigger because his car was still higher than I wanted. Not unreasonably, I just wanted to get a great deal.
There was not one word's mention of the TV show in any of the conversations.
I did see that at that time they had a black split window there along with a silver one that was extremely overrestored: black paint on the underside, a few Non bone stock cues that maybe a real Corvette stickler might have been more picky about, that had a pretty hefty price tag. It could be a pretty split is going to have a dealer's price there and maybe it's not his wheelhouse. I dunno. If I was a dealer with a nice facility, I'd park a couple pretty splits on the lobby floor with very high prices and be patient.
I still like watching a lot of the car TV shows even with the manufactured storylines and mistakes, because I really really like the cars.

I saw the episode were he purchased the car and he did mention the motor, clip, etc. They purchased the car for $115K US money. The same car was on there web site for sale for $150K it's marked sold now. They take the price off FAST once they are sold but leave the ad. In my opinion it was not worth the $150K with incorrect motor.

Nicholas Cage's split window sold down here for like $135K via a consignment dealer, a black car with F/I and I didn't get close enough to determine motor originality - it had a Hurst shifter; very pretty machine...

I enjoy LMC.
No drama, no stupid hats, tats, piercings, billy goat beards, 25" tires or fur interiors.

I think Peter was surprised at how nice that car was when he saw it after his son did the deal.

After looking the car up on his site, I was surprised how nice it was, Gold Certified, etc. I did see the sticker on the windshield but it wasn't mentioned. I have to assume that the Dad was very familiar with the car and discussed the deal ahead of time with the son. It's not like there's a lot of LS6 cars that his son would have had experience with. It appeared to be a nice car from the little time it was in the show.

Wayne Carini has a car show and he never discloses what he pays unless it`s at auction, familiar with the line "believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see"?

Maybe...but on the show it seems to me that every time Wayne is at an auction he or one of his clients gets their head taken off...and there is Wayne saying how sometimes that is how it goes...he loses more money that he wins...only "person" making money on that show is the auction house...
