C6 emergency entry access system
C6 CORVETTE EMERGENCY ENTRY ACCESS SYSTEM 2005 - 2009
Two wires, one connects to each battery terminal.
Then, the red and black alligator type clips
clip onto a non metal part of your grill, giving you the ability to open the car and then jump start the car if the battery goes dead.
What concerned me is the blockage of the radiator by the Clips and the negative look, with the clips being visible through the grill.
Maybe not a big thing.
Has anyone done this.?
Would you recommend?
Sounds cheap for @ $32.
My car is a 2008 with a 18mo old battery.

Bought used. Did not come with a key, Have 2 fobs
Is there a key and a fob?
I understood that if your battery was dead then the
fob would not work. Is that right?
I have a plug above my license where I thought a key would go.
I do have 2 keyless electronic fobs.
Thanks, 1st time C6 owner.

get down and look at the area above the license plate. you will see the light, a rubber switch to open the hatch and a key slot on the right side. use the key that is in the fob (pull out the silver base of the fob) and there you are!

Congratulations furniss5 on being a first time C6 owner! If your C6 FOB battery was dead, use the metal key like the previous members have mentioned to open the rear hatch. Next, pull the door release "tag" located in the left side of the trunk. Once the car door is open, get in and open the glove box. Locate the small "fob programming slot" inside the glove box and insert the fob into it. You should now be able to start the car using the push button ignition switch.
If your C6 CAR battery is dead and you want to jump start it, you should be able to pop the hood using the interior hood release lever once you're in the car. So that would eliminate the need for your idea of having two wires route from the battery to the grille.
If there was no way to open the hood to gain access to the battery, then that idea would be perfect. But I still like your creative/problem solving-way of thinking!

May I suggest you spend some time reading your owners manual? If you don't know about the key inside the keyless fob, then there is probably a lot more you don't know about your car.

I am not sure what year the ops vette is but not all C6 come with the key inside the fob. Mine is an 05 and certainly is not like the one pictured. I know they started doing this at some point but do not know for sure what year. Mine is a typical key fob and key (other than the corvette logo on the fob). Still has the key and access to the trunk opening above the plate.

The whole keyless thing with the newer C-6's is total crap and something that was never needed. More and more I'm preferring my '00 C-5 over my '09 C-6. Take key, insert in ign switch and turn - there is nothing to improve on ! Mess-up yes, but the Fob keyless system is a step backwards.

Many Thanks- Appreciate the Pictures and info
Thanks for the explanation. The 1st owner died. This car was on his bucket list. He died 3 months after getting the car.
His wife knew nothing about the car.
Thanks for the courtesy of explaining the fob with photos.
Some of the posts made me think the fob was called a key.
Had no idea it pulled apart.
I understand how it works now.
Many Thanks

Good luck w/ the car Charlie. They get alittle tough here sometimes. I have an 08Z and have had to use the key several times from this crappy battery dying!!! There is also a fob learning thing you have to know sometimes also in the glove box. Check out the manual.

After more than 50 cars and more than 3,000,000 miles driving over the past 52 years I'll take the FOB. Screw keys, other than for "emergency" access to the C6, which I have never needed but know it works. 38K miles in the C6 and climbing..... I don't miss the ignition key or door key at all. How could I? Walk up to the car, get in. Push a button, start - drive away. Arrive at destination, get out - walk away. Doors lock. How cool is that?
