The Corvette L52 Motor..
Last night I went to a local bi-weekly drive in car show. I was talking to a guy with a silver Corvette that had 427 emblems on it. He told me it was a 2008, he purchased it 2 weeks ago and that it really had a 6.2 in it. I was not sure what year the LS3 came out so I asked if it had the LS3 or the LS2. He told me that it had the L52 which I did know was not a Chevy motor and I told him that. He quickly opened the hood and pointed to the emblem on the motor and said "See it is a L52". Doing my best to keep from laughing I told him that it was an S and not a 5. He gave me the look like, Wow buddy you sure are stupid. I finally walked away and I am sure he still thinks he has a L52.

I honestly couldn't tell you which part of this whole ordeal is funnier...the fact that he thinks it is an L52 engine, or that he actually thinks he has a 2008 which has the said L52 engine.
Both clearly incorrect. Both clearly entertaining.

I thought the L52 was an option in 2006 or 7 and it was the addition of 427 badges to the hood

Sounds like he has one of those rare engine misprints and mis-badging from the factory. The car is worth a fortune because of that ... kinda like a mis-stamped coin that gets released to the public.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
This guy was sold a Corvette what he was led to believe was a 2008.
What are the chances someone would replace there LS3 fuel rail covers with LS2 fuel rail covers (slim to none I would think).
Do you suppose this guy was actually sold a 2005-2007 Corvette as a 2008?
This idiot that bought that car really needs to go run the VIN number and find out really what year car he actually bought.
I still can't see why someone would remove there set of LS3 FRCs and replace them with LS2 FRCs?
Strange ....

I could see how someone that didn't know a thing about a Corvette could think this FRC might say L52
In fact, I am betting that if my wife looked at this photo, she would say it says L52

He would not be the first person that really has no idea what he purchased. Or the first person that thinks no one else knows anything about Corvette's and figures he can get away with it.
I ran into a guy that had an '05 roadster that had a custom retractable hardtop installed. He was telling me and everyone else, that it can like that from Bowling Green. He also went on the say that they made 500 special editions that year with that option. I also have another guy with a '69 L72 and he tells everyone that it is exceptional rear and that it was a factor race car. It has the wide rear fender flares on it and his story is that they cam with the car from the factory laying behind the seats for the owner to install.
So they are out there.

If you had thought to look at the car's VIN, the 10th character would have told you what model year it was.
Model year designation from GM B = 1981, C = 1982,
D = 1983, E = 1984, F = 1985, G = 1986,
H = 1987, J = 1988, K = 1989, L = 1990,
M = 1991, N = 1992 P = 1993, R = 1994,
S = 1995, T = 1996, V = 1997, W = 1998,
X = 1999, Y = 2000, 1 = 2001, 2 = 2002,
3 = 2003, 4 = 2004 5 = 2005, 6 = 2006,
7 = 2007, 8 = 2008, 9= 2009, A=2010, B= 2011

I also once saw a guy at a car show with a 67 chevelle ss396. Nice looking car, but he wouldnt open the hood. Good thing too, because under the hood was not a 396 v8, but a 250 ci straight six.....true story.

Sounds like something I would for fun. Just to see if I could keep a straight face and see who would have the audacity to correct me. Then I would be insistent that the other person was wrong, knowing full well I was playing a game... And recording it for YouTube... LOL!!!
Edit: to top it off- I would be wearing a velour Leisure suit.
