New Z06! Cold air intake questions
Good morning guys! I am new to the forum so nice to meet you guys
First off I am coming from a Gtr, it was 1400 hp and just a hell of a machine. I sold that and now I purchased me a new z06. I have gotten more into the track experience and the need for the drag strip has left me. With that said I want to keep my z06 stock because it's more then enough car to satisfy me
The only thing I would like to change to is a cold air intake just to hear that wonderful supercharger noise a little more. I wouldn't think that would void a warranty or anything since I won't be touching the ecm. So with that said would I need to get a new tune to get a cold air intake? If not I want to purchase one but if it takes a tune then I'm not even gonna jack with it.
Thanks for any advice and here are some pictures of my new car!

Great choice!
I doubt adding a different CAI (the oem is a CAI btw) is going to make the SC more noticeable.

Agreed, you won't hear the SC much more with a CAI. Depending on the dealership and your Service Advisor, you may or may not have issues with warranty. Most seem to be ok with a CAI, as long as there is no aftermarket tune.
You may have already noticed, but Halltech is the system of choice, plenty of threads out there with feedback, install tips and dyno results. Most guys are getting 45-52 hp to the wheels.

Check Manny Da Silva , he owns a shop , Dasilva Motorsports , he just picked up his Z06 and started to do a series of upgrades .

I changed the CAI on my 2010 Shelby , the difference in SC sound is extremely noticeable . Stock units on the Shelby have sound baffles in the air intake path ( strange huh ) . Now , I have a Haltech CAI here for the Z06 , im hoping to pick up HP and better sound as well .

I just spoke to a shop here in Fort Worth that said there is virtually no difference between the halttech and the AFE cold air intake which he has in stock. Is AFE just as good? I can snag one today if that's true

Ps beautiful car. Aside from the calipers it's just like mine.
Oh you can also remove the rubber strip at the base of the windshield to get more whine. It can be put back on. I too was hoping it would sound more like a KB terminator. lol
Best,
Gene

I'm going with a Halltech intake soon as I put a few more miles on mine. Right now at about 800 and have done some spirited driving but want to do a second oil change and new differential fluid before I add mods. Your car is awsome.

Ya man.... There is a actual point you hit when the car is so fast it's not fun on the street. The Gtr may destroy the zo6 because it's a dream platform to mod but the zo6 is just a great piece of American history. The Gtr is just ungodly fast when modded
