Default Can the C7 Z51 be used as a daily driver?

I live in New England and I know how the weather can be at any given moment. I would like to have just one car and hopefully a C7. Anyone drive the C7 in the snow with snow tires? If it's above ground clearance I'll just work from home. I'm single so I don't have worry about driving people around plus majority of the time I only drive with one person if anyone.

If you have snow tires and basic driving skills then absolutely you can.

Another useful quality post from Jake.

Woodson is correct.

if you live in a snow zone and don't know how to handle a car in the snow then stay the hell off the road, you're a menace to yourself and everyone around you, that being said, get yourself a set of dedicated snow tires, not those all season crap and give yourself a lot of room.

Ground clearance is an issue unless you want to be a snow plow.

I wouldn't recommend it . Get yourself a reliable beater for when the snow falls.🚙

Since 2003 my only car has been a vette. I live in SC but I make semi-regular trips up to PA at all times of the year, so I've had a set of snow tires on a spare set of rims for each car.

If you have snow tires, just a bit of common sense, and leave the car in weather mode, I'd say you'll do better than most others other than 4WD

As far as the ground clearance, C7 is higher than both C5 and C6 were, so you should be good in up to 2" of fresh powder, maybe 2.5" if you remove the front rubber vent gizmos.

I haven't researched winter tires for the C7 yet, so can't help you there. I still have my C6 GS set that I need to see if they'll fit on my C7 Z51.

Other than different tires I can't see any reason you couldn't make it on most days. Oh, and I am originally from Mass. There will be some days, of course, when it will be difficult, if not impossible.

I would be more worried about the other drivers. The sight of a car sliding towards me at a stoplight is not a pretty view.

you should be able to make it on most days. But there will be those days where the snow might be little deep.

I have thought about winter driving my corvette a lot. but when it comes winter i typically store it.

Like above ground clearance during a heavy snow is the only worry, other than that put snow tires on it and you'll be extremely surprised how well it gets around.

If the other drivers don't get you, the salt, sand, and road chems probably will.
To that end, a winter beater would not be a bad idea.

After a number of years trying to shoehorn things into my C5 that should not have been in it in the first place, I bought a used SUV.

Does better in snow, too.

Carried on the tradition with the C7.

This is only a problem for some people though. If you plan on keeping your car for a few years, the salt wont hurt your trade in value.

The Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires are only good down to 40 degrees. change to an All Season tire.

Ground clearance would be an issue on snow covered roads, put quality winter tires and drive smoothly. You got a lot of power and torque under the right foot add wet or icy conditions and nothing good will come out of it if your too hard on steering/braking/acceleration, like any other car out there just amplified in a sports car.
