4 seat equivalent to C5 Corvette
Hi there,
So I absolutely love my C5 but I am getting married and will probably have a child coming down the pipeline pretty soon so I figured I would start looking into a more "practical" sports car.
Now keep in mind, I am not selling my C5 or anything like that. It's just that I currently daily drive my C5 and I don't think I would be able to handle driving anything that doesn't feel as fast, crisp, and downright fun as a Corvette. So I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on a 4 seat car that could fill in the void that not daily driving a Corvette might create.
My budget would be between $30,000-$40,000 used vehicles are totally welcome suggestions. If there is something that could legitimately fit a car-seat in the back that is preferable (I know I am asking for a lot between the two spectrums).
Thanks!

Melting Slicks
Not forgetting the current Mustang GT. 435bhp, quicker than a base C5, and new prices start in the low $30's. A Camaro SS is nudging $40k, and a bit quicker.
Trouble with the Chevy SS sedan (like the late model Pontiac GTO and G8) is that it is a Holden, a captive import from GM's Australian manufacturing operation, which GM has announced it is shutting down, so it may well be "orphaned" - i.e. sparing problems, etc.

My Dentist went from a C5 to a Porsche so he could haul his kids around. He paid $20K for it 5 years ago and absolutely loves it. He said he would never go back to a Corvette and plans on keeping it forever.

I went to a Challenger SRT8 for a similar (grandchildren) reason. After attending an SRT experience I regretted letting the 4 door taboo rule me, the Charger was the most balanced and fun car of all I drove, and they were all 392's. With the Hellcats now as top....CATS, there should be plenty of Charger SRT's available at your price point. Forget the Camaro. Its cruel punishment for a newborn in that 'back seat'.

Equivalant? No. Fun as hell to drive? Yes.
I have an 04 Z06 with a cam and it's a blast to drive but my daily driver has to four doors, not just 4 seats. I went from a G8 GXP with the LS3, which is a great car, like the current Chevy SS, but my fuel reimbursement changed. So I sold it. I needed close to 30MPG, went to a Ford Focus ST, it was fun, but now I wanted a bit more refinement in the car.
My current ride, some may laugh, but I love it. MINI 4 Door Hardtop S with the John Cooper Works Tuning Kit. Power to weight ratio is roughly 11lbs/HP, not to shabby and I can get over 30MPG and since I drive over 30,000 miles a year, that's important.
Or check out the new Ford Focus RS, 350hp/350tq, and all wheel drive, but good luck finding one under $40,000.
