Default Funny headlight comment from a kid

So I was at a show yesterday, and a young kid came by with his Mom. I let him sit in the car, which was a thrill for him. Then when looking under the hood he asked if the big lights were pointing backward so I could work on the engine in the dark. I said "whatch this" and turned the lights on. He jumped back about two feet when they rotated! Highlight of the day.

One gratuitous pic, just because.......
I'm between a Z06 and a Callaway.

92Ragtop,

Great story! I think it's fantastic when guys (and Ladies!) take the time to show their cars to kids. I am sure you made his day.

My 7 yr. old Grandson is one of the rare young car guys who puts down the GameBoy, XBox, etc. long enough to learn ALL the makes of his Hot Wheels & Matchbox cars.

Btw, I'll take that white car over those two slower yellow ones!

The Corvette Club I belong to does a yearly thing for kids with Spina Bifida. There's a picnic and then we take the kids out (from about 5 to a rare mid 40's) for a ride. You have no idea how inquisitive these kids are, they want to know everything about every car. Before the cruise, these kids were wheeling around every car and if the owner was close by they had a laundry list of questions and it wasn't just to be polite. They honestly wanted to know about the cars.
More than one had the usual statement: "I'm going to have one of those when I grow up". That and when driving around it was either "burn rubber" or "let's go faster".
One young girl I took out was like a little puppy. Either she was sticking her head around the side of the windshield or hand up in the air above it. Now there's one that definitely will have one when she get's older if conditions permit.

Funny story...good old days of hide-away headlights. My 89 RX-7 had them too, but was a much better engineering design then my 96 vette. And lately have had some problems with the gear running after turning off which is now pointing to a problem with my BCM ...yes I replaced the gears first thinking that was the problem.

Did that once when we stopped for lunch on our way back from Bowling Green. Got back in the car at DQ and there were two little boys with their noses pressed against the window watching and waving at us. I flipped the lights on and off rotating them and the kids eyes bugged out and they looked at each other and started moving their hands in a rolling motion. They thought that was really COOL!

Default Asking kids if they want to sit in it.....

So when we got our C7 a young kid (about 6 years old) and his dad were very interested in the car. Looking at the kid I asked him if he wanted to sit in it. As soon as the words came out of my mouth his father practically knocked me (and his kid) down and jumped in the drivers seat!!!!!!
Dumbfounded I said " I think your son should have his turn now....".

Thanks to you and your Corvette Club. That's a great way of giving back and giving some joy to those less fortunate. I can't think of a better way of promoting the hobby.

That's a cool story, and it's funny (to me at least) how kids react to the headlights. My own kid won't let me turn on or off the headlights until he props himself up, or can get out of the car to watch...then he gives me the "O.K." and I can actuate them. lol. As they're rotating, he's in heaven.

Weird, my car does the same. The gears will even run if I turn the foglights off. Anyways, yes, people always love seeing my headlights rotating up and down. Even though the right side didn't want to go back down yesterday. But it doesn't bother me, I just use my HID fogs

Yepper, I'm looking forward to taking some DA veterans on a cruise around the Mothership's track for Vets in Vettes in November. In the neighbor hood there's a small group of kids that always give me a thumbs up when I pass.

Rick
