I need to get my66 to Carlisle next month. The only place I know to rent a trailer would be uhaul. They quoted me $274 for 5 days. Does this seem ok or high? Or any other ideas?

UHaul is a pretty good deal and I use them a lot. $54 /day is short money for the solid auto transport that you get IMHO. I'd rather drive the car somewhere if I need work done, but it's well worth the $54 so my wife doesn't have to follow me, burn up gas, time, etc.

If you live any where near Atlanta I have a U-Haul trailer I bought from U-Haul I will be glad to let you rent it for half of what U-Haul wants.

I can't quite recall but I think I was renting a Uhaul for $48/day not long ago. I think (not sure) maybe there are AAA or perhaps AARP discounts; I got some sort of price break on it. They work well but might be the wrong loading angle for a low slung Corvette - there are several ways to deal with that and they were covered in a recent thread here...

The best way is to go out and buy a nice used flat bed. Then sell it when you get back from Carlisle. You should be able to break even with the cost or come out money ahead. If that is not going to work then go to a rental shop for heavy equipment. United Rentals and such. You will pay more but you be better off than to rent one from UHaul. Or place a wanted ad in your area and see if someone has one for rent.

There are a lot of people out there who have an enclosed or open trailer just sitting there ready for you to use.

But you could resell a trailer fast without much effort. Past experience...

Make them an offer for 2500.00 then resell it for the same price after your trip. Life is good.

My only experience with U-Haul was many years ago and when I went to pick up the trailer it had two flat tires. Luckily they were fine after we pumped them up.
Something else to think about - where are you going to park it in Carlisle? Better check with your hotel and see if they have space, or there is a trailer parking lot right near the fairgrounds. The last time I used the trailer lot (2013) I think it was $40 for the entire weekend.

I have used U-haul trailers a number of times.
Great towing trailers, front over the wheel tiedown's, inertia brakes and no tire problems to worry about.
The price is reasonable.
