Thank him so much for making a great decision. Ask VMJ.

Congrats to you and your son! My father served in the Navy and I was actually born at Great Lakes!!

My Dad always said I served three days and received a honorable discharge.

Congrats to your son on graduating from Boot Camp. Is he continuing on for some schooling or going straight to a duty station? In any case, best of luck to him in his Navy career.

Sinister-one Congratulations on your sons achievement. I made the Navy a 26 Year career and enjoyed every minute of it..

I too attended boot camp in GREAT MISTAKES! Its a TRAINING COMMAND, your Son will be anxious to finish and head out to his NEXT Duty Station!

I decided to go the SUBMARINE FORCE route. IMHO, it was a VERY GOOD decision.

What has your son selected as a rating and what are his current plans for the Navy?

HOLY HELL Brother. I was there in Jan76! BURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Talk about friggen COLD and WINDY!

ANOTHER BUBBLE HEAD! WELL DONE!

Boy what a coincidence! I was stationed on USS Sam Rayburn, SSBN-635. It was the VERY FIRST Moored Training Ship for the Nukes down in SC.

I took the ship from operational SSBN to fully functional Moored Training Ship with students.. That was WAY back in 1984-1990..

The Rayburn has since been replaced with a SSN-688 Class Moored Training Ship SO,,,,, he will get some more UP-TO-DATE Nuke Training!

GOOD LUCK to your son!

Bill

Bill, Yes it was.....that wind blowing across the place was freezing, plus we were able to enjoy shoveling off the grinders before we marched. Still can remember my company....086. Stayed there for Hospital Corps school before hitting the fleet ! Best time of my life..
